Anyone have any experience using Orange Amps? I was looking at getting a small combo amp and these see to have good reviews. I was looking at the CR20L and CR20LDX more effects). I havent seen any harp specific reviews, mostly just guitar so I wasnt sure how they would sound. I am using an Astatic JT30 mic.

I've got the Crush 12 and it's a great little amp. Loads of control over the sound, and a lovely crunch when you crank in the overdrive. For the price of them I would whole-heartedly recommend it! I use it primarily for guitar, bur have plugged a cheap karaoke mic into it for a noodle around occasionally. Through a JT30 I reckon it would be quite sweet.
FWIW Personally, I would buy the CR20L over the LDX, using the money saved to purchase a multi-effects pedal, but it's up to you. either one would be a great amp. . . .
. . . and I just love the look of an Orange amp :)

thanks Andy. Yes I was leaning towards the CR20L and add effects after just like you said. I also have a Roland Micro Cube I could preamp it with for effects now if need be. I am not looking for a ton of volume, just more than the micro cube has. Do you know how much louder than the micro cube the Crush 12 is?

Not a ton of Orange amp knowledge but I played through a guitar player friend's Orange Tiny Terror and it was pretty awful for harp. Using a bullet mic it was very trebly and thin although it did distort the tone pretty quick (if that's what you're looking for). The biggest thing was the amp fed back like crazy, even at lower volumes. For around $185 I'd go with the VHT Special 6. I have one and love it. There are a few youtube vids up with the amp and harp, and Mike Fugazzi and Rick Davis both have blogs about the amp. Great bottom end, easy to mod, and sounds great with a variety of mics (I use a 57 and bullet). Granted the amp isn't orange....lolq

just noticed there is no Aux input on the CR12L. Scratch that idea. Guess I should go with the 20L

oh and I would go with the 20 or 35 watt over the 12. You can always turn it down if you need to. Thats what is good about the newer solid state amps is they are designed to sound the same at low volume as they do at high volume. Adjust the gain/overdrive as needed.

@Rift: I've never used a micro cube, but the CR12 is more than loud enough for my house (and my wife :) ). I would deffo go for the 20 if I were you. I was given the 12 as a present, otherwise I would have gone for the 20 myself.
@Swezey*: I haven't found mine to be particularly trebly, but I wasn't using a bullet mic, and the Tiny Terror is a different beast.
Let us know what you decide Rift!

I played out of a black CR20L a couple of days ago. I used a vintage CM Green Bullet and a 57. I couldn't get a real nice sound out of it (although the sales guy at Guitar Center said it sounded "wicked"!!... it realy didn't!). I'd save a little more $$ and go with a VHT which sounds a lot better out of the box... just my opinion tho! ----------
