Hi folks i have just got a Digitech RP350 pedal with the Richard Hunter patch set and am starting to explor the possibilities, i thought that this pedal had the facility to loop but now i'm not so sure, does anyone have experience with this pedal?. I know the 355 has a specific looper facility but i think it's a bit trickier with the 350. Any help would be great.

The units that end in a "0" (50, 150, 250, 350) are the older units, and do not have a looper function. The newer units that end in "5" DO have a looper function, EXCEPT the "55". There is also an RP 70, which is intermediate between the two releases, but doesn't have a looper. The newer big multi-button floor models (RP 500 and RP 1000) DO have a true looper, but the older GNX models only have a "phrase trainer", which can loop one phrase captured from the aux input, but cannot layer loops or manipulate them via foot pedals. The looper on all the newer units is essentially the same (20 seconds with overdub, but no undo). Hope that clears it up!
FYI, I use an RP 155, and I love it. If I'd had more money, I'd have bought the 255 for the expression pedal, but I don't really miss that functionality. I have developed some good sounding patches (IMHO) for the 155 that I'm totally willing to share with anyone who wants... ----------

@eharp: Sure thing! Just give me a little heads up if you want my patches since I'll have to boot up my old windows box and download the latest version of my patches from my RP onto it...
@John95683: Patches are just computer files that store all the variables for a chain of modeled effects, amps, and cabs. You load a new patch, and it's like you just loaded a new pedal board and amp (with all your tones preset into them). The units come with a bunch of patches pre-programed, but it's pretty easy to make your own once you figure out how to tweak all the settings. And you can download a bunch off the internet too. ----------

is that what you do issac? play thru the digitech into a pa or a keyboard amp? or is this just a toy. (not that there is anything wrong with that.)

Yup. This is my main thing, and IMO, the sound they are capable of producing is phenomenal. I do not consider it a toy, but, like anything, it can sound toy-like when you don't have patches set up properly for harp. I've got several patches that I've made by trial and error over the last year or two that I've owned this pedal, and I think they sound very good. The most common thing you hear people complain about these types of modeling pedals is: "But it doesn't sound exactly like the REAL thing!". Personally, I don't really care about that. All I know is that they are capable of making great tones, and that's what I find most important.
Currently, I only have a single 8" speaker cab to plug into the 20 watt solid state PA I use with my RP155. I really need to get a bigger speaker, as I find I don't hear the great bottom end that I can hear on the recordings I make direct to my PC. If had money, I'd think that a good keyboard amp with a 10" or bigger speaker would be the ideal partner to take this to gigs. ----------

Sure thing! I'll get my other computer out tomorrow and pull them off. Just a disclaimer: I've made them for the RP155. They *should* transfer to any other RP unit, but I can't guarantee that they all will. I think I have somewhere around 15 patches that I've completed to a point where I'm really happy with them. My ideas of good may differ from yours, but at any rate, they ought to be good starting points for anyone to get going with!
Probably what I'll do is host them on my dropbox site and put a link to download them in a new thread so that any MBH'er who wants 'em can have 'em!

Yeah, I can definitely e-mail it to you too. I didn't get a chance to do it today, and I've got a stack of papers to grade tonight, so I'll try to get it together tomorrow night and send it to you then... ----------

Geordie, I just sent you an e-mail with my patches attached.
For anyone else that's interested, I'm planning of making a demo video of how they sound, and then hosting them for public download (linked from the video description), but I'll need a few days before I can make that happen. In the meantime it's easy for me to send them to you by e-mail (now that I've got them off my RP unit), so just let me know if you want them, and I'll send 'em to ya!
Cheers,
~Isaac ----------

I recorded a video after I got home from work today, but haven't had time to upload it... Hopefully I'll get it all set up over the weekend... ----------
