I don't know about you guys, but every time I've been at a band practice tryin' to come up with a name for a new band, the conversation always degenerates into a sarcastic comedy session.

One thought is to give the band a name of a successful band already operating in the next region, and people will think they like you without ever having heard you.

You may have tried googling on a band when you're looking for their gig schedule, only to find out that there are two other bands with that name in other parts of the country that are moderately successful.

I can't wait to present "some" of these to the band. Harp players really are smarter than they look! Keep em coming!

If it were here in Oz I would call it 'True Blue'. Not sure though that the name may be in use?

'True Blue' stands for -genuine - solid- reliable. eg to say they are True Blue is the highest of compliments.

How about taking the SBII root, calling yourselves "The Original. . ." followed by the old band name?

Or go the opposite direction "Duane and the Sloppy Seconds"

Thanks Honkin...several people do call me Catfish since it goes so well with Frye.

We do have one helluva guitarist.....Billy Crawford who traveled the world for several years with Deborah Coleman.

This band has direction.....no drinking or drugs during practice or gigs, do your homework for the next practice, no dry-humping the patrons (what got the last harp guy fired)music and image are everything to these guys.

"no drinking or drugs during practice or gigs, do your homework for the next practice, no dry-humping the patrons"

"Goody and the Two Shoes / Two-Shoes Travelling Blues Band"?

(I'm assuming that phrase is known outside of the UK; correct me if I'm wrong!)

Ya'll are good. Mojo in it is good. I like Crosseyed Cat.
For some reason this one stays in my head:
Piney Woods Hammer
I'd go see them.
But THIS one was inspired reading theads today:

I always wanted to be in a band full of fat guys called The Stick Figures.

I second Tongue-in-Groove, but I might go for a more suggestive spelling- Tonguin' Groove.

...and a happy Sunday to ya...folks!

When I told a friend recently of my bands name,

The Flat5.

...funny, now he wants to make a band called, The Augmented 4th's.

boo hoo....just been told, The Flat Five..already exists...how's that? I had no idea.
And I remember checking in to it around January, just so this would not happen.. Oh well....
Better investigative tactics need to be done BEFORE one starts the ball rollin.
How many times should one check?
Maybe Augmented 4ths is still available...ha!

who cares?

Todd..you are too funny.

It didn't get my vote but the guys decided on the name..

The Back Talkers

It is catchy and easy to remember I suppose.

We have a guy almost finished with our logo, we have 5 gigs booked (two are charity) and hopefully the web site will be complete soon.

Please...share your thoughts on The Back Talkers.... as a name of course.
