I'm not sure about a costume, but I'm planing on making a small jack-o-lantern and putting a harmonica in his mouth. :)
I'd imagine any full face masks would make harping hard, but they've got half faced ones too. I'd try to do a band theme. You could go as Dracula/Frankenstein/Wolfman etc., or as the Muppet Band.

Makeup doesn't work too well, either. Local sports figure?

I used to have a clown mask that had a crazy red afro, then the part that came over my face just came down to the nose, so my mouth was completely free for harp blowing and singing. The mask had glasses, so I was able to wear a pair of shades underneath, making it look like a clown with shades on. Rented a purple clown suit at a costume shop for a few bucks and it worked out well. Another option is to check a costume rental place for an Elvis jumpsuit and wig.

There was a band I use to catch when visiting my brother in Cleveland called "Crazy Marvin" blues band Marvin would dress up like a clown and it wasn't Halloween - funny as heck, made ya smile and he would play some crazy type blues to keep it fun!

When I google "harmonica player halloween costume," this thread comes up first, at the top of p. 1 results. In one day!

Who needs SEO? Just start a thread here with the topic that you want to rise to #1 and put the key search terms in the opening sentence or two.
You think I'm joking. Start a thread called "[your name] sex tape."
Actually, I am joking. Please don't do that here. But it would work.

May I suggest a Halloween Harp? Gloss Black Powder Coated Covers with CNC Milled Mandarin Orange DuPont™ Corian® Combs. Pictured from front to back and left to right are a Marine Band Deluxe in Bb, a MS Blues Harp in A and a Special 20 in D.

Or a Harmonica Skinz. Skinz are made out of the same 3M vinyl used to wrap cars and trucks. I gave some out at Hill Country to commemorate the event. Virtually any graphic can be printed on a Skinz. Pictured below is a set of Old Glory Skinz on a nice Low E Marine Band 1896 with a CNC Milled Clear Anodized Aluminum comb. I sent out several set of the Old Glory Skinz to guys who played our National Anthem at various 4th of July Celebrations.

If you want a Halloween themed set of Skinz, I can make them for you. All I need are the images and/or text.

Two years ago I went as Huey Lewis to our Halloween gigs.

This year I'm thinking The Thin White Duke. :-) ----------
