I found this interesting as the ABB have cut back to only a couple shows a year (not a huge commitment). It is a bummer, however, they haven't released anything new in 10 years.
Hittin' the Note is a good album...the Beacon DVD from that time is also great.
While both stay busy, and are obviously awesome, I miss the Derek Trucks Band. Tedeschi Trucks is great - I own all the music and have seen them live a number of times - but DTB is in my top three.
dicky betts has been gone a long time...now warren&derek leaving...its time for the brothers to disband....greggs a great singer but not enough for me...duanes been gone over 40 years...still miss skydog
i agree. the rebirth that was made possible by warren and derek has run its course. i don't see the ABB continuing as more than an ABB tribute band. better to hang it up gracefully.
One of my acquaintances from college, Mike Mattison, was the lead singer of DTB and remains in TTB but in a reduced role. With all respect to Susan Tedeschi, who I think is great, I would love to see Mike get more recognition, maybe through his own band Scrapomatic.
He was the singer when I saw the DTB a few years back - loved his style, very cool, relaxed, happy, smiling fellow - great vibes from the whole band :)
As far as the ABB...EVERYONE IS REPLACEABLE - it may take awhile and won't be exactly same...but their music will never die...
There will always be an AAB band touring, playing their contribution to Southern Blues Rock till the end of time...
I saw "The Outlaws" recently, I think the Singer was the only original- the guitar players were not...(And they are Known for their 2 GUITAR mind blowing Extravaganzas - and did not disappoint...So There is still MUCH HOPE that AAB will carry on with "other" TOP NOTCH amazing musicians! :)
