Ok, so I need to find a way to stand my cell phone up to record.. Or just a way to record in general, sonyou guys can get hear the tone.

this amp is NUTS.
underrated, underappreciated, and better than the one I tried, I have had time to fiddle with the knobs, so I found my sound, so to speak.

it has an all metal pedal now, switching from the clean to the dirty, so technically could have a clean, dirty efx. and volume up dirty for solos.(has an effects in and out in back.
also can line out to different amps, and has 4/8/16 ohms, (upsidown horseshoe) on a switch on back.
has the old schoold vintage knobs, and the power and stanby are flip switches, the whole thing looks early 50's.
has normal and bright input, and triode and pentode mode.
the reverb is unreal. It sounds great, and at full (its a knob on the amp) its almost overwhelming for harp, but at 4 its sexy.

tbh, I played through a fender 59bassman tweed again last night, and this is slightly smaller, seems to have more power behind it (that speaker on the 59 looks pretty old, that.may be why)
I prefer this.
I will get criticism, but thats ok.
this amp is fantastic.
I also spent less than 420 including a 2 year warranty.
(through guitar center)

I only had 2 mics to try this with.
a legacy lm200(has a suuuper clean SUPER clean clean sound, which I kinda like)
the shaker mad dog, which is my new best friend.
it has the crunchiest tone ever. Super Chicago.

now before I get flamed on how I have to have a vintage bullet MIC.. No.
they hurt my hand. I've broken fingers in my left hand several times, and they just don't set well in my hand. After 2 songs it feels like I have arthritis, so I stop playing (at open MIC)

the mad dog is comfortable, and I can't really tell the difference in tone, and if there is, I can add a pedal or two, so really what's the difference...

I'll try to get a video review as soon as I can but recording is difficult.

thanks for readin guys

any questions feel free to ask

Kentucky-

Did you get the Bugera V5? I am very interested in this amp. I am looking to get my first tube amp soon and play a lot at home, so the power attenuator is a very positive feature that I really would like to try. I'd love to see a video so we can hear the amp.

Thanks.

I'm waiting for a YouTube vid to load.
sound quality is the best I can do, I'm not sure how to use a MIC to record through the PC.
I have the bugera V22, and did a simple review. Once its up, ask questions and I'll answer the heat I can, can even do videos with different tones and sounds selected if interested.
get the v22 you will happy you did.
less than 400

Harp study, I have a Bugera V5 in great condition I would sell for $125 + shipping. Great amp - good tone and features such as the power attenuator. It just was not loud enough for my band or for the jams I go to so I got a Bassman. Let me know if you are interested - greenberg.rich@gmail.com.

Harp Study, I owned that amp for a while, and I love it. It has cool features, such as the power selector, and good tone. I think is perfect for a first amp.

KentuckyBlues, the sound quality is good on your phone.

I can tell that you are happy whit the amp, and that is great, I am happy for you.

I am still curious of how it would sound whit a bullet and other settings (bass on 10, treble at zero, you know, that kind of sound), so if you find a fellow harper that go for that sound, please record him (or her) playing whit the amp.

Enjoy your new amp!!

I emailed you about the amp.

Rogonzab
Thanks for adding your advice. Glad to hear that someone else likes the V5 amp. It looks like a great amp but you don't see many reviews from harmonica players

Kentuckyblues
That sounds great. Enjoy your new amp.

Harp Study, yes no one cares about the bugeras (because of the brand) but they are fine amps.

There are some YT videos of the Bugera V5 whit harmonica, they are not reviews, but you can hear the amp.

Rogonzab, what settings exactly do you wanna hear?
I'll do more vids with different settings, so people.can see how it sounds on "their"settings (everyone has their own it seems, so why not show y'all an amp at the settings you like?

rogonzab -

Thanks you very much for loading those videos. It is very helpful to hear the amp. Sounds pretty good to me.
Currently I have a micro cube with the LW harp attack which i am pretty happy with but sometimes wonder if a tube amp would give me a better tone. I've never played through one, so I just don't know.

Thanks for the help.

I've always thought the V5 looked like a winner. Who else can you get a 5W tube amp from that includes a reverb? I'm actually pretty sure the V5 is the same amp as the discontinued Peavey ValveKing Royal 8 with a reverb included. The Royal 8 was a little gem that lived for too short a season.

Did you see what the who made the slow blues clip above, said about his settings? Gain 9 (!!!), volume 7 (!!!)
I don't believe it.
If I put my Vibro champ xd on that setting, even on the lowest gain voice, that would be a screaming mess of feedback death.
And even if it wasn't just squealing, it would be way too loud....
No way would you hear a backing track or a song played on the living room hifi...
I guess maybe, if it had a 12 au7 in the preamp...but why do that when you can just adjust the gain?
No, I don't believe it.
Anyway, the bug v22 hey. Yeah...there's a lot of variables. Not much I can tell about it but I reckon it sounds different live than after it's been through all the processing it took to get to my ears...and then there's all the variables that make Denis Gruenling sound different to KB. Not to mention the mic and the space and the settings. I can tell it has a working reverb.. It's loud enough to get you heard without feedback...that's all you really need to start. Like that el34 Ashton Viper 30 I've got...no one wants it, but I know how to get a sound out of it and I learned a heck load about playing amplified with it...

SuperBee, yes, those are amp are low gain.

Almost all the videos of the bugeras (V5, V22, V55) on YT are people (guitar players) playing jazz, blues, or clean, and no metal or heavy rock. That is why I think that they are a good bet for harp, they are tune to that sound.

Thats what I'm saying, this baby really sings, and its not made for metal, the gain isn't that crunchy..its very usable.
the amp weights 61lbs, wood, and real leather on top.
seems sturdy.
bugera has made several changes since original production of the v22.
the most notable is a VERY sturdy footpedal for clean and reverb.

the on/off and standby switch are harder to flip than the original v22's, not in a bad way, its a nice solid feel.

the input jacks (all of them) are different than the original v22's, as bugera upgraded when they had problems with other.

the v55 has over heat problems fixed

the v5 amp is really cool, and I may end up getting one for apartment practice, haha. I really love these amps.
was planning on a Kalamazoo that fell through, now it may be bugera again guys.

best amp I've ever owned, couldn't ask for more considering the price.
if you see one at guitar center, atleast TRY it, because honestly, this is great. Add some dirty pedals, or a dirty MIC (like the maddog) and its juust enough crunch ...
any tips for my sound settings on the amp? What do you guys think?

I think Gary Smith is right when he says close your eyes and listen, twiddle the knobs.
It's not possible to say anything specific about settings based on your sound clip , other than keep that reverb down. It's really noticeable at 5, to the point where I'm hearing the effect rather than the playing.
Generally with an amp which has separate gain and volume you'd want more volume, less gain. I rarely put gain above 4
But your amp, your ears. If you can't get any drive, and if you want a little drive , maybe adjust your gain/ volume relationships until you like what you're hearing. That will change as you learn to play the harp and learn to hear the harp. Generally you'll get better at producing the sound you like regardless of amplification.
Mostly an amp built for guitar will tend towards a bright default tone, so usually with harp you need to roll off the highs, boost the bass. Some go too far with this , just sound muddy dark. It's better than the cat-strangling toothache noise, but hardly inspiring . You can have a big influence on the tone at the other end of the signal, and that way leave a wider frequency spectrum available from the amp . That's the end which really matters.
