I had the opportunity to track some harp on the great rapper Lupe Fiasco's new record. Very cool production!

That was cool, Ross. Great that you were allowed to play more than just a hook (e.g., like in "Timber"). Cool stuff!

PS., You probably know this already, but you won't find much love for Hip Hop here on MBH. Don't worry, because, "I'm still here, El Guapo!" :)

Bumping this, because I don't think most people on this forum are in the right demographic to realize just how big of a deal this is.

People should be excited about this! Lupe Fiasco is both very popular (like Pitbull, in the context of "Timber") and also very respected by his contemporaries (unlike artists like Pitbull, to be entirely honest). This is certainly one of the places where we want to be taking the harmonica.

I wish the harmonica could have been a bit higher in the mix, but I understand his decision making with that.

Thanks Guys!
I agree...this was a great opportunity to take the harp into some unusual territory accompanying a great artist. It's a subtle part for sure, but I like what they did with the harp...and I'm all for the harp-as-part-of-the-ensemble sound!
Best,
Ross
