Hello, I have the opportunity to build me an 15w amp via Tube amp doctor. My choice is a copy of Fender Princeton without reverb and tremolos to reduce costs. Would you have a link to the schematics of this amp? I know there 6v6 2 lamps inside ... thank you :-) Franky

Google it. Here is the Fender drawings. http://schematicheaven.net/fender.html
Use Princeton 6G2 or AA964 and leave out the Trem circuit. OR Take a look at the 5F10 Harvard, you would not be sorry with a Harvard. You can make these amps any wattage you want by using different transformers and power supply components. You will save very little money by leaving out Trem and Reverb in your amp. The circuit components are not expensive, it is the transformers, cabs and speakers that cost money. Also, If you do not have a backround in electronics or electricity, this project is not for you. Tube amps can and will kill you, even when unplugged!...BN

Having someone build you a clone of an amp is rarely cost effective. Why not just but an original and have a tech look at it? That way when you sell it, it isn't a clone, it's the real deal ---------- The Blues Photo Gallery

Ok thank you for your answers. I will follow Joe's advice and wait. But what is the difference between Princeton Blonde and Princeton black ? They have two different speakers Jensens P-10R for the blond and Jensen C-10R for the black. What speaker sounds the best for the harmonica? I play with EV RE 10 and BlueXlab crystal mic. Reverb and harpbreak pedals from Lonewolf thanks

I built a Tweed Princeton this year that I got from Mojotone. It has no reverb/tremolo and only one 6V6. I guess the one you are looking at is the later model. I got the the entire kit from them with one modification, I have a 10" speaker cutout, rather then the spec 8".
Joe L is right, building one is no bargain, but there are other things to consider. I built my amp with a local tech so I could learn a bit more about the theory behind amp construction. It was a valuable experience and I was able to build an amp using best practices and the tech showed me a few things that reduced the buzz/noise that is inherit with old Fender amps. Sure, its not a vintage piece, but it sure plays super nice and dare I say pretty darn close to the real thing.
I didn't build the reverb kit as I don't think it's as good as a pedal, but hey, that's me. As for speakers, I have a weber alnico, I am not crazy about the new Jensens ceramic or alnico, but I do have one of there Jet Tornado speakers and it is pretty darn great sounding. Good Luck!

The P10R has an alnico magnet and the C10R has a ceramic magnet. If you want more of the tweed amp sound, go for a P10R (tho the reissue version ain't anywhere near as good as the real deal)> ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

i just now dropped a mojo tone p10r "made by eminance" into a 1 10 cabinet, it is a great sounding speaker. i used 4 of them in my bassman for a very very long time.
i just recently pulled two of them outof the bassman, and dropped in a re-issue jensen p10Q somoth cone and a vintage p10 q that has been re-coned. very happy with all of these speakers. ---------- if i type in the correct captcha why is my post lost in cyber-space

I would think that a tweed deluxe would make more sense in this application. Like ,say,a 5e3 ---------- www.shakeylee.com

If I read this right...it's about cloning a Princeton Reverb but leaving out the reverb and trem? So why not clone the black face Princeton instead, which many consider a superior harp amp anyway? or wait to pick up an original...black face might be a bit much but the Silverface is affordable and basically the same amp with different livery...and everything else about the value and depreciation and resale possibility remains true.

Hi hellharpo No, that's not what I mean. I meant, it looks like you are coming at from the idea of cloning a princeton reverb, but leaving out the reverb. that would be modifying the AA764 or aa1164 circuit. i think you'd maybe be better off doing as BN suggested and build the Princeton amp (i.e. the amp called 'Princeton" which wasn't a 'reverb") 6G2 or AA964 circuit. or buying one of those amps
but...if you really like the Princeton Reverb amp (i certainly like mine) why not do your thing.."its your bread, blow as thou please"
