I thought I'd start a thread specifically for people who want to try out embedding video, posting pics and sound clips, links and what not to practice. So open a window to the forum how to and work out the bugs in your html.

One of my all time favorite YouTube Videos- Kiwi!

Jaybird- There are kids on this site! And people who don't have easy access to eye-bleach. Maybe you could put a giant Lee Oskar mustache on the one cheek. And as Honkin pointed out, the harmonica is facing the wrong way.

It starts automatically? Not with me... It says ' autostart="false" '. So it actually shouldn't.

I could try and find another player...

it didn't start automatically for me, but you could see it 'buffering' the track on the player.

"I think you misunderstand the gentleman's invitation"

Well, the caption says "a satisfied customer plays old man river", so I didn't think of it as an invitation as much as I did a demonstration. And, as wild as it would be to witness somebody blowing "old man river" through their ass......somebody blowing "old man river" ...through their ass....from the wrong side of the harmonica?

Now that I'd have to see.

On the subject of links...

1. If you add target="_blank" to the html, it opens the link in its own window, so you don't leave the forum.

2. Its also a good practice to use the URL itself as the text between the tags. That means that people who print the page, or the visually impaired who use screen reader software have access to the URL itself.

for example:

<a href="http://www.yourURL.com" target="_blank">http://www.yourURL.com</a>

btw GH if you use &gt; and &lt; you can write your HTML tags so they appear normal - without having to add asterisks.

EDIT***Ooops! forgot to close my tag! If things don't appear as you expect that's the first place you should check. Have you missed off a > or a /?***

This video might deserve its own thread but its probably been posted before and I'll see if i remember how to embed (only tried once before). It starts with Amazing Grace but I'd recommend jumping to 7:30 to watch Whammer Jammer!

I tried that "target=_blank" thing. It didn't work. Here's what I did:

http blah, blah, blah.comtarget=_blank>My text<(etc.)

The link navigated away from the forum. What'd I do wrong?

(Yeah, I did use all the / and < and h ref and all that stuff.)

Anyway, if I want to check out a link and if I think about it, I could right-click the link and choose "Open in new tab (or window").

Nasty, that's not HTML; that's grade school stuff, BUT it appears there's a way to do it in HTML. Perhaps that's what's being referred to. Here's a link.

Yeah, no offense Nasty, but punctuation and pressing 'enter' to separate your thoughts would make them much easier to read. You have some pretty interesting and funny posts, and they would be much easier to interpret if you did this. :-)

Jaybird, nice playing! Try backing off the mic a little to avoid distortion.

What about posting that on a new thread?

Mr. Verylong,
I did not use quotation marks at all. I thought you were using them to keep the code from working so that we could see it.

I'll try it again:

your link text (will appear blue and underlined)

ALRIGHT!!! Thank you.

Even though you did not use a real URL, I thought it would show up as a link anyway if you typed the code correctly.

Jaybird you can control the hight of the visualisation screen by changing the parameter in hight="xx". with a value of 19 it will only leave the 'player bar'.

I'm confused. I was not invoking you, just trying to check link style for the 7-limit thread, and got that strange result here. What I did wrong was put the URL for the sanding wands with quotation marks around it; never put you in there. While you were replying, I just tried it on that thread sans quote marks and it's fine. So now I know how to put a text window within the text window, maybe. Perhaps if I did enough of those at once, it would send us into another cyber-dimension. Or maybe it's just a meta thang.
