Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have a new CD out this week called Mojo. The bit I heard on TV sounded like it had some amplified harp in 2nd position which I very much doubt is Tom??
My guess is the CD is a mix, but hopefully he mixes in some good blues with his rock/country style. Always good to see big names doing some blues....I mean Tom Petty....not Cyndi Lauper...lol

I saw Petty once, and his keyboard player is also his harp player. I do not know his name. I'll google it. He played Mary Jane and all the other big hits with harp on them.

Ha! Tuckster beat me to it,,,and with better information. I didn't know the guys name but I've seen Petty live a couple of times and I saw ST playing. He stands off to the right as you're looking at the stage and a little behind Petty.
Love the harp on MJ's Last Dance. Very simple yet so sweet!! G harp, all on the 4-5-6. Love Petty, super cool cat. some people have alleged that the Red Hot Chili Peppers ripped off the riff from MJ'sLD for one of their songs. I forget what Petty said exactly..but it was along the lines of...."hey I don't really hear it..but if they did...well, hey everybody borrows from everybody"
Very cool cat....check out the Traveling Wilburys for some cool stuff as well (not necessarily harp).

I saw the Damn the Torpedo's tour and the Hard Promise's tour. Great live shows back then. At Market Square Arena ironically, long before the Mary Jane tune. I've got some great slide shots of him and others from the 70's and 80's that I need to scan into the modern world. TP's music then was really, I don't have the words but he sure wasn't trying to sound like someone else.

Just my personal opinion, but I think his music changed after he toured with Bob Dylan.

I forgot about Dylan touring with him. I saw that tour too. Makes me wonder why I forgot about that show. I recall Dylan wearing a leather trench coat all night long, gees.
