This is a good piece to play made famous by the truly excellent Paul Butterfield. I have tabbed the catchy intro here. * Ignore my remark on the video where I mention how to find the tab because that relates to those watching the vid on Youtube

Nice, I didn't think I'd get it cause of the tab, I'm more used to sheet music, but I'm familiar enough with the song that I pulled out my harp and instantly was playing Butterfield, thanks :) !

That was fun--thanks!

I grew up under the mistaken impression that that was a Herb Alpert song.

Thanks for that, Ryan! I just did a little digging and it turns out the song was written by Nat Adderley, Cannonball Adderley's brother, in 1960.

Really? Cool, I totally like listening to the Adderley's!

Don't mind me, I love that I live in a time where I can type a couple keys and find things like this within minutes!

For some reason that song always reminds me of Locomotive Breath...Jethru Tull....similar hook.

In the shuffling madness
Of the locomotive breath,
Runs the all-time loser,
Headlong to his death.

A 5OB will give you the major 7th that the original Adderley version (and all other versions I know of except Butterfield's) has in the 8th bar:

-4 -4 -5 -4, 5OB -4 +4 -4

Although I love it as music and I like the harp playing in general, Butterfield's version has always bugged me because of that. This is a classic example of how OBs let you play something that you can't play accurately (note-wise) without them.

Using a Bb harp (as in Grey Owl's tutorial) is the song played in the key of Fm?

Something like this?

Fm7 | Fm7 | Fm7 | Fm7 |
Fm7 | Fm7 | C7 | C7 |
Fm7 | Fm7 | Fm7 | Fm7 |
F7#9 | Bb7 | Db7 C7 | Fm7

There is a really nice backing track from jazzbacks.com for 3£ (or is it £3) you can listen to a preview there or if you want to hear the whole backing track then I use it on my YT- video, just click the link in my signature...

...and think away my plodding playing over it.
