This is one of those moments when I am happy to have a forum like this.
Does anybody here have a useable list of blues radio contacts? Useable means, ideally, an Excel spreadsheet containing call letters (&numbers), location, names of DJs and/or program directors, email and snail-mail addresses, websites, etc. If I had THAT sort of list, I could dump it into my email program and send out a blast asking if stations would like downloads (which apparently many stations now do) or CDs.
But I'm in a collecting mood, and I'd be interested in other sorts of lists. I'm looking for free, but if you happen, for example, to have purchased a really great and useful list and you want to point me towards the purchase-point, please do it.
The alternative is to work from the back of Living Blues--the Radio Charts station listing, which varies from month to month. That's not a bad way to go, but it's very time intensive. I'm looking to save time.
If you think you've got something that I can use, please email me offline: asgussow@aol.com
Somehow I think I'm gonna hear from folks on this one. And I'd be willing to bet that Scojo has got this particular trade secret in the palm of his hand.........

Adam, here's New Orleans' station WWOZ's schedule.
http://www.wwoz.org/programs/schedule
Note the blues show on some days from 2-4 p.m. It's usually a great show, and there's often live guests from here or abroad.

Thanks. Actually, I've already had one amazingly helpful response, off-list. WWOZ is a place I will definitely contact. Thanks.

Here's the web address for the long running blues radio show "Those Lowdown Blues" hosted every Sunday night on KJZZ by harp player Bob Corritore here in the Phoenix metro region: http://kjzz.org/music/blues. Like I said, the DJ is a blues harp player himself... ---------- ------------------

Sorry, but I don't have a list, either. But in case the list winds up a something you create off of a bunch of our suggestions, I've got one:
Sunday Morning Blues with Carter Allen, WZLX, Boston, MA.
Website for the program: http://wzlx.radio.com/shows/sunday-morning-blues-with-carter-alan/

Don't forget the web services like Pandora or satellite radio. I think Pandora requires a that a CD is available on Amazon. I'm not sure about the other ones. There is ReverbNation and sites like that too.
http://music.aol.com/radioguide/blues-radio http://www.radiorow.com/stations/blues.htm http://www.bluesforpeace.com/blues-radio.htm http://www.windowsmedia.com/radioui/home.aspx?g=blues&culture=en-us
Wow, this really is disorganized. You'd think stations would make it easier. We had the same problem with the local events calendars when I was helping out at a local non-profit. I wonder if there is an equivalent to the Writer's Guide. I found this site selling lists- http://radio-mall.com/radiomal.htm
Another clever way to advertise, non-radio, is http://www.tweetforatrack.com/
You give away a free track to anyone who will post a link to the free track on Facebook or Twitter.
I'll keep looking. ---------- Nate Facebook Thread Organizer

KUAF in Fayetteville, Arkansas has 3 hours of Blues music every Friday night from 7pm-10pm. One of the programs is The New Blues Show with PJ Robowski (I've heard Satan and Adam on her show). You can contact her at pjrobows@uark.edu and you can get the playlist for that show and another one, The Generic Blues Show with Paul Kelso by going to kuaf.org. From the home page click on View FM Schedule and from the schedule you can click on the playlists.

WAER (88.3)in Syracuse NY has several blocks of blues programming. Tom Townsley is not only a host of one, but is also a fantastic player himself. He's also a fan, he plays Satan and Adam on his show regularly.

Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. I got a big list from somebody--more than 100 stations that contribute to the Living Blues radio charts--and I sent out an email blast. Many DJs and PD's have responded. I'm going to contact many of the DJs and stations that have been mentioned here. Bruce Pingree and Jonny Meister are good friends and they'll definitely be hearing from me. I'm delighted to know that Tom Townsley is still spinnin' 'em in Syracuse and I'll shoot one off to him ASAP.
FYI, Kick and Stomp is #25 on the "Hot New Releases in Blues" chart on Amazon mp3s. The lists are updated hourly.

Adam, while hangin on my inversion table Dave Johnson mentioned getting songs on his show again. I didn't retain the link but he said you could find it on their site www.bluesdeluxe.com. It's aired on Sundays 8-9AM EST. Maybe they do a live stream you could check out some Sunday.

KVNF, broadcasting out of Paonia, Colorado, reaches 10,000 square miles over Colorado's Western Slope (west of the Continental Divide). It has a blues show, "Blues and Other Colors," Tuesdays from 12:00pm to 3:00pm WDT. You can also listen at kvnf.org.
The programming director, Candy Pennetta, can be reached at candy@kvnf.org. Candy has contacts all over the world with artists and recording companies who send her dozens of promo CD's every week. She'd be delighted to get a copy of yours which will then get posted on a special wall from which all the DJs choose "new" music to air.
If you do send something, let me know and I'll send the blues show DJ's, Todd and Cynthia a heads up to be sure they get it on air.
Good luck with your project, Adam.
