In one of the YT or Modernblues Videos Adam mentions that you can use tongue blocking if you want. My Question for you gurus is if the tab says five draw would you use a 2-5 tongue block as a substitute?

I will edit this post tonight and give a specific example of which Video(s)

You can you the 2-5 draw tongue block octave as an effect, but it would be better if you generally use the single 5 draw.

I think there are ( at least ) two different sorts of tongue blocking to be considered here. " Octave " where two adjacent holes are blocked and the holes either side are sounded, usually playing the low and high of the same note. The 2-5 draw is not an octave but still has it's uses. The other style is to cover, say , four holes; block the three on the left with your tongue and play the right-hand hole. ( there are many individual variations , fool around and find what is best for you). Some players use only this method, others only pucker, but Gussow uses all three methods which gives him a lot of ammunition.

I'm a happy camper today, I just stumbled on the elusive Tongue Block bend!! :) I started with 4 draw tongue blocking the 2/3 and just did some mouth cavity shape changes and trying to draw the air to upper back part of my throat. Low and behold 4 draw bent. Weeee

Now I just have to work on the rest.

What's interesting is that when lip pursed bending I found myself tilting the harp up at the front a little while executing a bend. This new technique should help my rack playing as I can keep the harp fairly level.

adam any chance we'll see you at the 3 day blues fest in May in Hagerstown Md? It's pretty wild, they shut down the downtown streets , 3 stages and some raucous blues. It'd be awesome to see/hear you there some day.
