After purchasing adams tutorial on the 4th hole bend, i have no trouble in bending a 4 hole.
But i can not bend the 2nd or 3rd at all! i've tried transferring the tips used on the 4th to these holes but no luck.

anybody have any tips/exercises to practice bending these holes?
i think adam should make another tutorial! :D
cheers harp players.

Try "Mary had a little lamb" in 2nd position. Its a great way to get your pitch right on 3 hole bends.

Its all about finding the sweet spot of the way your tongue bends back into your mouth. Once you find that, no matter what harp you buy it will be your frame of reference. It usually takes a bit more tension in the throat and tongue to bend hole 3 and even more tension with hole 2. Keep experimenting. If you can bend hole 4 well, use the same mouth position and stress it a bit more. Use more tension.

On 3 draw I try and make the sound DA (1/2 step) DU (Full Step) and DO (Step and a half) Bend

On 2 draw I make the sound KU (1/2 Step) KO (Full step)

I learned this method from Jon Gindick it works for me.

Anonymous - tuning a harmonica is something you do with a file or sandpaper - if you are comfortable with this idea, try going to Pat Missin's website, he has a lot of info about tuning there.

The "Do Re Me" scale is how I learned to bend the low notes. It would be 4b 4d 5b 5d 6b 6d 7d 7b done in what I call straight. It's 1b 1d 2b 2d(bent) 2d 3d(bent) 3d 4b with the bottom notes. Sorry I don't know the correct terms for the positions.(I play by ear) Also, I drop my jaw to bend the low notes. I kept going up & down the scale till I got it. All it took was one time, then I could bend 1 2 & 3 at will
