....or at least we're seriously considering it. Sterling and our new S&A drummer, Dave Laycock, are going to be visiting with me in Oxford (MS) on July 4th, and I'm thinking about booking us into Red's Lounge, a real juke-joint (across the tracks) in Clarksdale.
May I please have a show of hands: How many MBH/YT friends of the band think they just might drive on down to Mississippi, drink a few, and party with the band?
If you've got a gig for us within 200 miles of Oxford (i.e., Memphis, Birmingham, Jackson, etc.), including private parties, during the few days before and after the 4th, please let me know.

Well Mr. Gussow, we are having Memphis In May soon here in memphis and I would be great if you could play there.
It would be even better if you could play at the Helena King Biscuit Blues Festival in October. I contacted them myself to see if they would let me performe there but with no luck. I think that I will go and do a little busking though.
Another great gig would be Marianna, Arkansas "Autumn on the Square". It is held every year on the third saturday in september ( thats the thirteenth this year). I played there last year and will be playing this year. It would be especially wonderfull if you would play there, probably the best thing ever to me, even if it's only you. Please consider it. Marianna is not very far from Forrest City Arkansas. Its about an hour drive from Memphis at the most. If you are interested, go to www.mariannaarkansas.org and click on calendar for more info. I hope to see you there.

Memphis in May would be nice, but we're too late. I'm talking with the folks from King Biscuit, though, and think that may happen.

Hey harpmonkey:
You better check the oil and gas! The gig is on:
Saturday, July 5th, 2008: Satan and Adam (w/Dave Laycock on drums) at Red's Lounge, Clarksdale, Mississippi. 9 PM to .....????
Here's what they say about Red's online:
Red's Lounge
"Corner of Sunflower & MLK Dr.
Red's Lounge? It's the definition of a real-deal Mississippi juke joint. Don't expect to be spoiled with amenities. All you need is a been-there-done-that owner, some beers as big as your head and some "live" blues you'll never forget. (Oh, and MAYBE something out front on the grill.) This is how blues became blues... how the music grew up out of the cotton fields and onto a round piece of vinyl. Speaking of which, the building itself was called "Levine's Music Center" back in the day, and it's where Ike Turner and his Kings of Rhythm bought the instruments that played the first rock 'n roll song. Yeah, Red's is the real thing for sure..."
This is going to be fun. I guarantee this will be a memorable gig. If you come, please bring videocams, cameras, etc.

This Saturday we traveled up to Clarksdale Mississippi to see Adam and Sterling play live at one of the true legendary Juke Joints still in existence (Red’s Lounge). If you haven’t taken the opportunity to see Adam and Sterling “live”, you are missing the boat. They were astonishing to watch and listen to. Adam used a slightly different amp setup from normal practice. He played through two amps his faithful Premier twin 8 and a smaller Kay amp that was mic’d into the small PA. The TONE was flat out earth shattering. I encourage all of you to check the Personal Appearances listing regularly and take the opportunity to see this band live. You won’t regret it. We’re going to see Satan and Adam again in Birmingham July 26 at The Burly Earl. Hope to see you there. I’ve posted some pictures I took at the gig. That's me Deacon Blue between Adam and Sterling in the last photo. Thank you Jeff for showing me how to post images.

Thanks, Gary! I've only got two things to add, since your pictures tell much of the story:
1) Your flash made Red's look well-lit. Actually, it was the darkest, loungiest blues club I've ever played in, and that was part of the attraction.
2) My Kay is sitting on top of the club's recent-vintage Fender, and I did NOT use that amp. No, I was tubes all the way at Red's, and I think I need to retire my Mouse for a while, since the sound of my Red's rig was pretty much what I've been looking for all these years. (The Mouse just to the left of my Premier is my OTHER Mouse; I was lending it to Sterling and he used it as a second amp.)
I DO have HD video of two songs we played and will be posting it on YouTube soon.

I should also add that part of the way I got my sound was to mic up the Kay amp with a REALLY nice ($160) mic. I can't remember the brand or model # off hand, but I just purchased it a few weeks ago after some guy in a club miked my Mouse with it and delivered the best sound I've ever had through the PA. So I went on line, used google's image search, and found it. I bought one in a heartbeat. It travels with me from now on. In fact, I think I'm going to buy another for the Premier, since I prefer to have both amps miked.
This way, I won't have to depend on the vagaries of the sound man. I can just say, "Plug your cables in here."

Sundog,
The first thing you will need to do is upload the image to the internet and obtain a hyperlink for that image. I went to www.photobucket.com to accomplish this. Once you upload the image, it will appear on the Photobucket site. Simply right click on the image and go to properties. On the left, you will see Address (URL). Highlight or select the URL of the image and Right click selecting "copy". With the post last night, the url was: http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o346/k5xc/IMG_5346.jpg
Use the following template to insert the desired image: img src="http://www.magiccoffeesession.com/images/yogasmall.jpg" / Copy and paste the desired image hyperlink between the quotations of the template like this: img src="http://i340.photobucket.com/albums/o346/k5xc/IMG_5346.jpg " / Now there is only one more step. Put a < at the beginning of the code and a > at the end. In other words put a bracket around the entire block of code. This step has been omitted so you will be able to see the code. I hope this makes sense.

In case you haven't seen it. Here is a You Tube post of Adam, Sterling, and Dave rocking the house at Red's Lounge in Clarksdale July 5. http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=VlnTw6uUBjk .
