is a harp in the key of g lower than a or higher? Let me be more clear. Does the key of g harp sound higher or lower than a c harp. Does it go A B C D E F G, or G A B C D E F, or F G A B C D E, etc? And if the G is lower than the a, is it the lowest key?

G is the lowest key, F sharp is the highest.(Excluding specially tuned high and low harps.)

Aside from custom tuned harps, these are the general keys available listed highest to lowest:

High G

F#

F

E

Eb

D

C

B

Bb

A

G

low F#

low F

low E

low Eb

low D

low Db

low C

Generally, only Hohner, Bushman and Seydel make the low harps. Seydel sells stock harps even lower than the ones mentioned here.

You forgot the good old A-flat. Always have one in the
bottom of your harp kit to pull out for the SRV wannabe
guitar players tuned down a half step.
Kim Wilson does some killer tunes on an A-flat as well.

thanks for the help, i went to my local guitar store yesterday and got a marine band in a and a lee oskar in g. I asked the guy and he told me g was the highest so i wans't gonna get it, but decided to go for it anyway, shows how much he knows. I don't know if i really like the a and g though, they're really low, alot lower than i thought they'd be

A and Bb are my favs by far. Whenever I'm camping, my friends and family always like the lower harps around the campfire. They prefer the more deep relaxing tone, as do I.

Hi All:
I actually have a D-flat harp but I can't think of anytime
I've had to jam with it and I may have found 1 song off a
cd that needed it and it was probably recorded at the wrong
speed.
Again, unless you hit the SRV crowd, not much call for D-flat
harp...but you never know...so best to have one. (Ya...that's
what I'll tell my wife..sure..you never know. And I might
need another amp as well... ;)

most music stores have testers for you to try a harp. it works like a bellows. this would have told you if it was higher than A. it is also the only way to see if the harp has anything wrong with it. it doesnt replace trying it out personally, but it is our only option.
