I've seen Charlie McCoy play a really bluesy song on You Tube with Val Doonican called Stone Fox Chase. I can't get all the notes picked out because my ear is not that good. I have some of it but not all. Does anyone have the harmonica tab for Stone Fox Chase? Or could someone with more talent than me listen and tell me the tab on the what I would call the third or forth bar. It's some kind of warble but I can't pinpoint it to duplicate it. I think it's a 3 draw bend to 3 blow but not sure.
Thanks

It is amazing what notes are played in our favorite harpsters song. I noticed this when I was doing some detailed listening to Fox Chase by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. I lucked out a couple of years ago and got The Amazing Slowdowner as a gift. I was really impressed with its ease of use and its sound quality. You can slow that song right down and hear note by note what those great harpsters are playing. I don't have any affiliation with this product, I just use it to do exactly what your wanting to do.

Ive ask on other sites for tabs to this track but no response. I think its one of those tracks that is kept a secret by those who play it !!!!. So like you, it is back to the 'slow downer' for me & to start picking out those notes ....... think it starts on a 3 bend.

Train-train hit it on the head. Every harmonica player should own the Amazing Slow Downer. It's a god-send for tabbing out songs.

I would not even attempt to tab out many heavy tongue-blocked or fast Jason Ricci songs because I was well aware of my lack of skill in getting the tab accurate. But with the Amazing Slow Downer, I'm confident I could tab out virtually anything in a reasonable amount of time.

Writing that felt like writing an infomercial. But it's completely true.

I also like how you can easily loop phrases on the fly so you can hear a complex riff over and over without having to constantly rewind and play. It's unbelievably convenient.

That's almost guaranteed just a Fox Chase tab. Stone Fox Chase is one of the most well-known harmonica songs. It's done by Area Code 615, not Lost John.

A lot of 'older' people know it because it was the opening to a TV show called Old Grey Whistle Test. If it was the right tab, I'm sure it would have the word Stone in it.

There are countless Fox Chase tabs on the net.

I appreciate the input. I have the amazing slow downer and it is great. But I don't know how to convert the you tube video of val doonican and charlie mccoy to an audio file so I can use the slow downer. Any ideas? I'm not that computer literate. Thank you.

Thanks everyone very much. I did indeed use the vixy converter and have the video on my amazing slow downer. It works great. Thanks.

It's inside the computer. ; )

Again, get the Amazing Slow Downer and tab it out yourself. You'll be so much better off for it, also!

It's not online. I've seen countless posts on all of the main harmonica forums about it and nobody knows of an online tab.

This may or may not apply to this thread--but here it is anyway. . .

I wrote to Adam once--about a year ago, and asked if there was a tab for the Slow Blues lesson--about lesson 24, if I remember correctly--anyway, he wrote back that he didn't have time to tab the piece and that it would be very good for me to just keep on working on it, bit by bit--which I did.

The Slow Blues lesson is now a huge cornerstone in my playing--and I'm still learning new stuff from it--I'm just saying that it was great advice for me. This method might seem brutal sometimes--but it sure makes you learn the chops.

Some of the best stuff I know on guitar was picked off of records back in the old days--now we have all this great stuff like the Slowdowner--and access to thousands of tabs and programs like GuitarPro and guys like Adam to spoonfeed us--seems like a piece of cake by comparison!

By the way--there is a tab of slow blues available on Adam's site--I believe it was done by another person, but I thought it was very good when I saw it. . .

Right on oldwailer.
I couldn't thoroughly understand root notes and how to work an improv through the 12 bar changes until I sat down and did the hard work of tabbing out a couple Jason Ricci and Big Walter songs. Once I saw what notes they were picking on each chord, it all clicked. Nothing has helped me more than simply sitting down with the Amazing Slow Downer and learning from the masters.

I'm tabbing out Hakan's new tunnel version at the moment. Slowing down with audition, anyone is welcome to it when I'm finished. Got the basics down but working through the tricky stuff now, I'll be a little while though.

Well, for all you Mac OSX brothers and sisters out there, check this out:

http://www.machinecodex.com/audiocodex/

It is a lot of things, but that includes being a slow downer and a pitch changer. I've been playing with it for awhile and love it. Especially what it does to Adam's voice when you start playing with changes.

I'm too new to have a harp in every key so this is great for changing a cut from its original key to one I have a harp for. The trial version is not crippled at all and lasts 30 days, then it's $30.

Charlie plays in 3 keys on the original with Area Code 615 , A Bb and C. I don't have the tab but I find if you play along you soon pick it up by ear. There's one quick change of harps but on the whole it's pretty simple, although I've always had trouble copying his clean style of playing.
