I am a beginner (maybe advanced beginner). Working on bending. I can actually produce a decent bend on 2 draw, 4 draw as well. The 3 draw however is a different story. Can get the "blue third", but when I pull down harder I get no sound. If I attack the 2 draw in the same manner, I get a nice bend.

Is it likely a reed problem or a technique problem? I'm using a Lee Oskar C harmonica.

Thanks.

Peter I am just now getting this. I would suggest buying the bendometer to help you know when you are getting the correct amount of bend.
The thing that is starting to work for me is to say
Oooooo (rhymes with YOU) for the half step bend
Ohhh (rhymes with Go) for the full step bend
and Ahhhh (rhymes with Saw) for the step and a half step bend.

The gurus will probably have some better ideas for you.

It took me longer to nail the 3 hole draws then the 2 or 4 and 6. Practice it the same way as the others, I found it very usefull to do the "That Spoon that Spoon that Spoon full" trick Adam uses in the YT Blue Third Video. The "that" is the 2 hole draw the "Spoon" is the blue third, use the bendometer online and try that.

I've noticed that some notes on some harps bend better with when you use the front of your tongue to bend them, and some notes bend better when you use the back of your tongue sometimes. I don't know if this makes sense to you, but usually that back of the tongue works better (try sucking with the back of your tongue (the part near your throat) is close to the back of the roof of your mouth. You make get a gargling noise)
