Here's another quick question, however silly it may be - Is it OK to use guitar delay with a harp instead of harp delay? - anyone got any good suggestions about what to use for a good sound with a solid state amp?

I think it would be fine. Adam gussow uses a boss dd-3 which is a guitar delay. Others to check out might be:- - Marshall Echohead. A versatile fairley cheap delay (£50ish, This is the one I would go for). - Behringer DD400 if your on a tight budget. Basically the same as the Boss delay pedal, only using cheaper components. - Ibanez Ad-9, for a good analog delay.

I can vouch for the Boss DD-3. It's built like a truck. Runs off a power supply or 9-volt. You can pick a used one up off ebay for a pretty reasonable price. Remember, most harp guys use these for just a hint of slapback. You really don't need a ton of bells and whistles to accomplish that.

What are you guys using with the Boss DD-3? Did you modify it in any way? How is the feedback problems? Best to all . . . ---------- ChipperHarp http://www.myspace.com/chipperharp

No mods to the pedal. I just use it for a hint of delay. Just that slapback delay to biggify the sound a bit. As far as feedback goes, I don't think it adds to feedback problems. I'd say any anti-feedback measures you take now would continue to apply with the DD-3.
Speaking of feedback, has anyone here tried the Kinder Anti-Feedback outboard device? I know Jason Ricci uses one.
I have a mic that I really love, but it has no volume control or on/off switch and I do have to watch it with feedback issues. So I'm curious about what others are doing to mitigate feedback.

Hi All:
I picked up a used Harp Commander I a couple of years ago when I was using a solid-state amp. It impendence matches your mic to the amp and can really bring a SS amp to life.
Since then I've found my holy grail tube amp. I did the pre amp tube sub to down to an 12AU7 to get alot more volume before feedback. The HC continues to do it's magic and with the bass and speaker phase adjustments it will control more feedback as well. The compress can take the amp from its' raw crisp bark to nicely dark.
I've then added a Line 6 Tonecore Echo Park pedal. It will do tape, analog or digital delay with a whole raft full of effects. Set on slap echo with tape delay it adds just the right amount of fattening up to the sound.
