I'm always learning something new. Today, purely by chance, I stumbled across Mike Stevens. Here's the video the piqued my interest:
http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=xOK0126SIsY
He has a website and is out there touring a bit this summer.
He bills himself as "the most unique and accomplished harmonica player of all time" (something like that), which is probably an overstatement about an instrument that can claim practitioners such as Little Walter, Howard Levy, and my pal Jason Ricci.
But he's certainly somebody I'm embarrassed about not having known about sooner than this.
Please check out the video, and google "Mike Stevens" for his website. Lots of interesting stuff there.

Mike Stevens has an instruction book out--if anybody is interested--it's available on Amazon and the name of it is "Bluegrass Harmonica." I haven't gotten around to getting it yet because Adam keeps me too busy trying to catch up with him--but Stevens is a pretty interesting guy--he plays so hard he has ruptured an intestine a couple of times--finally had some things reinforced with stainless steel wire--don't remember where I read this--somewhere. . .
If you like this kind of thing--one of my favorite YT Orange Blossom Specials is Charlie McCoy-- at http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=x_cT14JALaQ&NR=1
Not as pyrotechnical, I guess--but damn good music!

He is really good, I've seen him play in Sarnia, Ontario back around 1995. I just assumed everyone already knew about him, yes he is pretty amazing.
