I love this web site, this time last year i was playing,OH SUSANNA and WHEN THE SAINTS COME MARCHING IN,plus a few little riffs of my own,i was in a learning CUL-DE-SAC and ready to give up,and then i found ADAM GUSSOW on you tube and this site and suddenly i had instruction and ideas and other harp students to talk to,it's like ADAM gave me a road map to bluesville!.I know i'm still very much in the side streets but at least now i know if i work at it i might one day make it onto the motorway.I've just posted a song called DISSMISSIN MISSIN BLUES inspired by JEFF HARPMONKEY and OLDWAILER it's my first go at a song so please have a look and leave some feedback (be gentle i'm not a musician i'm just having fun and trying my best.I've linked it to OLDwailers version of my WHITE BOY PLAYS THE BLUES lyrics cos he encouraged me to show my hand by showing his http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=k6F4OJFs1Y4&watch_response

Yep.
This is what it is all about.
We share, we understand, we identify, we testify.
We love, we hate, we laugh, we cry.
And it is all the blues.
And we are so lucky to have Adam and everyone who contributes.
Jam on...

Hey Man! Good Job! You have a very good stage presence going! Keep up with that singing--I liked it a lot.
By the way--I still love to play Oh Suzanna!
You might have missed my efforts on the Noise thread that I put up yesterday--but your song beat me to the punch--I extended Harpmonkey's lyrics a bit:
'Dismissin Miss Dissin'
She dissed l'il Walter, Said "I ain't in the mood."
Say my woman dissed Little Walter. She just ain't in that mood.
Need a new ol lady now. Mine's turned to fish food...
(Then I added the following)
Now, sometimes at night when the aquarium bubbles,
Yeah, sometimes at night when the aquarium bubbles,
I think bout that woman, and all of her troubles.
But she dissed Little Walter, and I can't have that,
Yeah, she dissed Little Walter, and I can't have that.
And now she's gone and made all my fish way too fat!
And now when I hear my Little Walter CD
Yeah, now when I hear my Little Walter CD
The fish all go crazy and the sound sets me free.
(repeat 1st verse)
(Geordiebluesman: Hope this helps you with your new song! LOL!!

I discovered Adam on YouTube at a very low point in my life, shortly after going through a devastating divorce. I lost nearly everything I had and was mired in the depths of despair.
I must say, that Adam is one of the most exceptional individuals I have ever encountered. Thank-you, Adam, for all you do - I am back and focussed as ever. Life is beginning to be great again!

I hate these websites. I seem to spend all my time either reading what you lot are talking about or scouring the web looking at mics, amps or anything else harp related instead of practising my chops. Which I need 2 practise a hell of a lot more than I do lol. ( anyone see that original 57' bassman on ebay. It'd be mine if I could of got away with doing the wife and claiming her life insurance. She doesn't seem to realise it'd make my life complete to own it. She wouldn't even need to dust it. I would care for it, love it. . . . . . . .. sorry. I'm off dreaming again

Yeah, Luke--I understand what you're saying--my lady can't take much in the way of competition either--I think she sometimes wishes I'd take up a cheaper hobby--like drinking and chasing wild women!

At least the harmonica is small and cheap,my dad played the piano and that thing cost a fortune and filled most of our tiny front room,i bloody hated it cos ma and pa had religion and me and my four siblings had to sing hyms round it between church attendance,i bloody well detested sundays when i was a kid, then one glorious day dad got so sick of being nagged about how much room the piano took up he swapped it for a fishing boat! then spent so much time out fishing that my mam divorced him!.Still no more bloody hyms so all's well that end's well
