Dr. Gussow you talk about being a street performer, especially in a few of your last few videos. Well i got some questions for you, or who ever wants to chime in.

1) how do you plugin your amp? I'm assuming you used a battery power rig mostly but i see you have you big amps set up sometimes.

2) Did you mostly play with live accompanyment (Mr. Satan)? And do you have any good tips for playing solo?

3) You did talk about finding a place that has good street traffic, open to blues, and legally ok. Any other Tips?

4) How do you keep an audience? (that question kinda sucks)

Basically i think you should do a whole youtube lesson on this subject. From start to finish .... i think it would be cool.

PS... I Just read the response that Gossow put up to the kid who was playing a 3 hour solo gig. That answered a few of my questions already.

Yeah, I think I should do a lesson or two on this particular topic, because I do have a lot of experience as a busker and I can answer some questions. That experience includes playing a lot of spots in NYC--Harlem for more than four years, but also Morningside Heights, streets fairs all over the city, Times Square, Grand Central Station; Paris, Avignon, Neuchatel, Ferrara, the International Busker Fest in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Gulfport Fla., Amsterdam, Hamburg, and a few more places.

I'll do that video. I don't want to simply repeat what I put in my other long post to superchucker777. It seems like you found that one.

Ya! I'm thinking of doing the Busker thing in Key West This winter.......I think dwn there the city requires a $100 permit to vend anything on the street. Played a little with a couple down there in 2004. Anybody have any experience down there ????

Been doing a little research on KW for my upcoming visit this winter.... Here's a link to a forum on Busking in different areas with a lot of chat about the pros and cons and it's all from successful street performers....

Sundog, thanks for that link.

Busking has been one of my goals, but after reviewing some of those threads it looks like it is very dangerous, especially in cities like San Francisco, New Orleans, and Phoenix. Not just trouble from the cops, but you take alot of abuse from the public, and you can even get beat up by the other Buskers, it seems.

How 'bout it Gussow? Give us the "low-down" on this Busking thing!

Sundog, I drew portraits in Key West for a few weeks while I was down there vacationing. I was naughty and didn't purchase a permit (there's seriously countless vendors down there) and don't know how they (could) enforce the permit thing.

I made $180-220 an hour while I was there. This girl next to me painting Henna tatoos was making over $300 an hour! And she was a nutball who did it for like 12 hours a day.
There's some serious cash to be made down there.

We heard some great blues at Hog's Breath, too.

I've never done a lot of busking, like Adam has--I for one would love to see some lessons on this subject.

The busking I have done was always accepted very well by the public and I've only been kicked out of a place once--and that was because David Carradeen was scheduled to play in my spot--the public actually preferred to see somebody famous! That was back when Kung Fu was a popular TV show.

Anyway--on the licensing thing--I always have counted on the old maxim that it's easier to get forgiveness than permission.
