I bought some crazy brand harp off ebay once--advertised as the best little blues harp in the world--piece of crap--but I still used the covers to fix up an old MB and made Rupert Oysler tools out of the combs--so I guess I got something for the money!!

Hi there Geordiebluesman,
I bought a Belcanto Chromatic harp a few years back from ebay and although its not the best harp in the world it did a good enough job for me and I've still got it! I don't know about their blues harps though. I have never had a good experience with any cheap harps I've bought except for Huangs which are great little harps. You usually do pay for what you get at the end of the day.

There are companies out there that " use the key words of a specialty (Blues Harp etc,) to add value(Cost) to their product. Some of the more recent electronic entries and other musician specific items are way overpriced just cuz it is for a specific purpose. Some of the fancy EQ's, Harp commanders etc, for example.
The Old boys used what was at hand and made up for the rest with "Technique". Ive seen "True Musicians" in the islands playing "Real music" on a board with a couple of strips of tin can nailed to it. That said I agree that 5-10-15-even 20 bucks wont get you much of a harp these days. But $200-$300 --- is over(greed)kill in my book.
