What other genres and or new artists have you been listening to? When I'm feeling something other than blues it is usually rock (both new and classic). I've recently been getting really into this new band 16 Second Stare, their song Red Carpet Material has become a definite favorite of mine. I recently saw a pretty cool interview of them backstage at one of their shows, I'm hoping they tour again soon...check out the interview here:

What do you think?

Like you Marty I really like other genres with a strong tendency towards country. However I like most anything really, except what I term doof doof rap music which I find irritating also harp playing probably could not coexist (would not hear it).
I'm currently listening to an album by Australian screaming Rocker Jimmy Barnes called Live At The Chapel. The album has been out since early 2000 but it happens to have some great harp backing that I love. Whilst a lot of Jimmy Barnes stuff is up on YouTube I have not found anything that has harp playing on it. The rendition of Flame Trees with lots of great harp riffs only on this album does it for me however I cannot nail the harp playing and suspect that it might be special tuning?

Always had a thing for Bluegrass, and southern gospel.
I had a link for the tabs for some songs defined as
"nigro spirituals" from the 1920'S and 1930's but I lost the bookmark when my last computer crashed. :(

I really love jazz. I particularly like the hard-bop era from the late 1950's through the mid 1960's. I'll listen to the earliest forms of jazz (early Louis Armstrong & Ellington, etc.), to the present day artists.

A million licks and ideas can be found in old jazz recordings.

I wonder what Big Walter or Charley Patton would say about Rap if they were alive to hear it?

They might be able to relate to the message that the rappers are putting out -who knows?

Personally, I consider Rap more of a social/politcal statement than music itself. I simply cannot get in to the groove they're in.

I enjoy jazz and oldies- I've been listening to a lot of Wynton Marsalis recently and love his fast bebop stuff.
