If I didn't know any better I'd say that The Wolf was primarily a LPer. This strikes me as particularly unusual considering that he learned the rudiments of harmonica technique from that great TBer Sonny Boy II. I could be wrong but when he fills in the harmony around a melodic line it really sounds as though he's bleeding in holes below and above that line. Thoughts?

Howlin Wolf is HOWLIN' WOLF! Some might want to argue that there have been greater musicians in the history of the blues--but THE WOLF was the greatest showman ever! He absolutely mesmerizes me every time I watch his films. He IS the song!

Just thought I'd get that little tidbit off my chest on this subject. . .I think he mostly TBs and LPs whenever it damn well suits him--and he is one of my all-time greatest heroes.

I'll bet Dr. Gussow could blow some goosebumps on my old hide with a Howlin' Wolf song. . .I don't think there is a lot of difference between the way they play--although Adam is probably a lot faster.

I bet his hands were as big as Rice Millers!

Just a humble opinion here. . .

Wolf learned his harp from Rice Miller while ole Sonny Boy 2 was sporting Wolf's sister.
Miller's and Big Walter's hands were long ,strong and a bit more boney than Wolf's massive paws.
