If, like me, you've become a junkie for these Youtube harmonica tutorials and demonstrations then you've got to check out a guy named Todd Parrott. I stumbled upon one of his videos by chance and was pleasantly suprised. Dude plays some sweet harp and he gives some good demos of different tunings and different brands and models. Later junkies.

Hakan Ehn is another good one on You Tube. He's pretty darn good, but what really sets him apart is his style. It's a sort of raunchy, gritty blues/boogie/rock kind of thing, and laiden with effects...delay, pitch shifting and distortion.
If I had to choose 3 favorites, they would be "Slow Harmonica Blues in Black & Blue", "Heavy Boogie Harmonica" and "Slow Harmonica Blues in Second Position."
He also has some tutorials. A couple of them are on tuning reeds, there's a great one on what he calls the "climb up" riff, and others.

Yeah, Harper--if I can just kick this habit of hanging out on the forums and YT--I might just take up playing some music for a hobby!

OK, I'll tell you about one more on You Tube: Christelle! She has very few tutorials, and I find those tutorials to be worthless, but there's a lot to be learned just from listening.
She is VERY talented, technique-wise, and she is very creative. But what I learn from her is the importance of expression...how far expression can take you. Just listen to some of her stuff. You'll see what I mean.
(When you type "Christell into You Tube, look for of an image of a lady with long, black hair with bangs (or a baseball cap) sitting with her bed in the background.

Check out Chris Michalek for some great jazz harp instruction, and David Pain of Elk River Harmonicas for some bluegrass.

Harper- Wow Todd is great- the tuning in this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hUCd03PDAM ) seems fantastic! You get an extra flat third, you can bend the 4th, and I've thought about 1st and 3rd position, and it turns out that it adds a flat 7th to first position and in third position it doesn't hurt since it only changes the standard Dorian minor to natural (aeolian) minor. I've gotta try this! ---------- "Without music, life would be a mistake" -Nietzsche

I agree with Gene, Christelle Berthon from France is one of the best in the world as well. She's most likely the best female harp player. http://www.youtube.com/user/christellester You can even see Christelle standing with Adam in her last video post. Standby to be amazed....

Chris Michalek has a Jazz album available on iTunes ("Monk Alters Chi" under the Artist name of "Michalek Strone") Chris plays bends and overblows like most of us play regular blows and draws. He has a unique sound combined with amazing speed and accuracy makes him one of the best Jazz harp players I've ever heard.

I know of and subscribe to almost all the above mentioned... but the ones I never knew about are Pacco Shipp and Hakan Ehn.
My first reaction... "wow!" I can't believe I missed out on these guys. They are really fun to listen and watch!
Pacco has such a sweet electric tone it gave me warm and fuzzy feelings. Hakan on the other hand, looks like he loves his high gain. :)
Thank you tookatooka and gene!!!
