Adam, please, please, please! make just one more video on Sonny Terry's style! I implore you! It will save my sanity! No pressure though. I know you cover him in video 108, and you give a tantalizing taste in your latest video, but if the greatest, most insightful, most inventive harmonica player in the world would demonstrate, just one more time, this very difficult style, I'm sure I could really nail it! (A little butt kissing never hurt anyone, right?)

But in all seriousness, you've really given me the inspiration to persevere when I feel like I'm stuck in a musical rut. If I hadn't found your videos I would have thrown away my harmonica in disgust and frustration a long time ago. I know you're probably a busy guy, and when you get around to doing a video it's because you've had a specific musical concept whirling around in your mind; so let me just say that, no matter what, I really appreciate what you do.

One of your many, many joyous disciples,
Harper

Harper, if you get a chance you should watch paul lamb's dvd, although it is not really a tuition video I think you would still learn a but from watching it, there is a large section on Sonny Terry's style. (there might be a few clips on youtube, but I don't know if the sonny terry section is on there)

I have ordered a book on Sonny Terry's licks, I can't remember who wrote it (possibly tom ball) but I will let you know if it is any good.

I bought the Sonny Terry book by Tom Ball and was really dissappointed as it really just teaches licks, what I want to learn is the kind of stuff Adam plays in his latest youtube video focussing on "Juke", I just love it. Perhaps you could put some rhythms with tabs in the store Adam. It would be fantastic(I'm not above a little butt kissing either)

the book is on it's way, I am sure I will learn something from it.

I might have to download the amazing slowdowner to use with it.

I'm a big fan of Sonny Terry too--I would love to see some ST lessons in the store--I'd stand in line to buy them!

Now I gotta go check out lesson 108--Adam did touch on ST in about lesson 7 or 8--the first one in the car at the crossroads--I haven't seen anything else. . .

Let me know if the butt-kissing is working--I'd be willing to do some of that, too!

You'll definitely learn something form Tom Ball's book Belfast harper and there are some really good old recordings- so it's a worthwhile investment. It just doesn't explain how to play those syncopated rhythms that Adam plays so brilliantly! What a talented man he is!!!!!!!!!

Belfast Harper,
I watched a couple vids of Paul Lamb on youtube. He's just too good. This is the kind of stuff that really seperates the men from the boys. He has got to have one of the most refined musical senses I've ever heard. He shapes each phrase so beautifully. What can I say really? I'm envious! I might have have to get that dvd before any other harmonicas or cd's.

Yeah I could definitly use some help with the sonny terry rythems. Adam's awsome in 108 but hes so fast I can't pick up what hes doing.

I work on my train rythms everyday. I think that that helps a lot in understanding his style. I get a little bit faster every day but it's hard.

One of Adam's early lessons--about 7 or 8--he goes into a little depth with a ST rhythm--talking about how it took him a long time to figure it out from the Glover book--

Anyway--I have found that piece of a lesson to contain a great key to the ST style--not all of it, of course, but it sure is great to work with. . .

Then of course, there is the lesson "Key to the Highway" at the store--which is another good insight into this great player's style. . .
