Attended a Blues Harp workshop last year half expecting that majority of attendees would be males and mainly oldies like myself. Not so as surprisingly there were a majority of young women whose desire was to play the Harp because they had been influenced by Vicki from "The Waifs".

I took a few lessons from a female player. She was a really great player and she had a great voice, too. Unfortunately, she's no longer active due to health problems.

In The Netherlands, we've got Liedewij who plays harmonica for "Bradley's Circus". Find them on Youtube.

I knew Geneva Red of "Geneva Red & the Roadsters" back in Wisconsin. Decent player.
Out here in California, Debra "The Breeze" Birdsong throws some pretty good Blues out there. Even does some Zydeco, Cafe Society, and traditional .

Here in the Seattle area we have Tracy Jones and the Wolf Tones. Tracy is still very young, but she plays the harmonica fairly well and has a killer voice.

Christelle!

Hi--are you THE Christelle from YT? You are great--I love to listen to your posts--some of them I have stolen to put on my Ipod so I can hear you in my truck at work.

Glad to have you here--I hope you hang around a little and help us out sometimes with advice. . .

Hey, Nicko!

We yanks only use the word 'purdy' in certain states, like Wyoming and Nevada--I'm not from there. I prefer the word 'HOT!' in that particular context. . .;)

There is a 12 year old blues harp prodigy by the name of Sweetharp Santana that plays gigs here in the San Francisco Bay area. She is a protege of Johnny Otis and was introduced on his former show on KPFA "The Johnny Otis Show" when, I believe she was 9 or 10 years old. Google her to check it out. There were no You-Tube videos that I could find. By the way check out "Blues By The Bay" on KPFA Radio which streams via the web from their site. It has great archives of past shows and features a wide variety of blues you won't hear anywhere else. His interviews with great blues harpists and musicians is a wealth of knowledge. Johnny's show is in their archives too.

Love your work on the tube. Like Oldwailer I have copies of your tracks Hallelujah, Godfather & What a Wonderful World that I play. Very much admire your playing.

Marcy Levy plays harmonica
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywOZCzBI8vU
She mostly known for her singing but here is YouTube where she does a real nice work of the harmonica.
She's long performance history and has performed with many greats like Eric Clapton, Howard Levy and many many others.
All in all, she has Blues running in her blood.
Enjoy
