hey guys,
Whatever your ability remember the blues is expressing yourself though an instrument which is similar to vocal. You cannot see what a harp player is doing face on to get his sound. Who cares.......... I have a didgeredoo .... I have to cut off chest breathing and cyclic breath through me nose...cool I have a nose flute ... it sounds like a parrot.. Go to open mics and just go for it!!! Don't be hung up on techincal stuff.....have a good time.... There is too much control... Nicko

To have fun is why we do it. The ONLY reason i picked up the thing is because i thought it would be a hell of a lot of fun. sitting in my room chuggin on some train songs. when im Hootin the blues, My brother says i sound like a "HillBilly", but you know what? I may sound like an idiot, but im having TONS of fun doing it. fun that i wouldnt have if i didnt sound like that "idiot". ---Be Positive---

You hit the nail right on the head. And it is the same when playing violin - in this case, "blues" violin. Blues music is all about emotion. You have to feel it - not just a little, but completely. And yes, you must have fun and enjoy it. Even if it's sad, you must love it. You must be passionate - always. If you love it and enjoy it, then the audience will feel the same exact way. And also, if you don't love it and enjoy it, then you really shouldn't be doing it. Getting perfection in music may take many hours, but it's worth it, and it's fun, not work. Carolyn
