I was thinking, maybe the Harpers from Chicagoland could get together sometime for a meeting. Trade some licks, have a little Session where we share info. Just post some ideas for Where we could do it and what we could cover. Maybe even do an outside barbecue, or a pig roast. Just tell me what you think. Since we live in chicagoland, it would have to be around the spring. ---Be Positive---

I'm in NW Indiana (Valparaiso), but I'm in Arlington Heights on Mondays.
There's a great jam night on Sundays and Wednesdays in Hammond IN at Larosa's Pizzeria.

It might be a little late for you: they start around 9:00. Its every Sunday and Wednesday at Larosa's Pizzeria. It's only about 2 minutes off of 80/94. Take Indianapolis Blvd (exit 2) north about 3/4 of a mile: its on the right.
There's another great jam night every Sunday in Portage at Leroy's bar and restaurant. Leroy's is on Rt. 20, about 2 miles west of Rt. 49. Take the Toll Road (80/90) or I-94 to Rt. 49, go north, and take Rt. 20 West. They start around 9:00 on Sundays also.

Is this a go? I have another open mike that's closer to my house, but if you'll be in Hammond I'll try to get there.

the Louisville park is heaven. I skated it a couple of times back when I was at the top of my game. Too much broken stuff now tho to skate. Neway I'm from Gurnee but I live in Florida. I go back to Gurnee to visit now and again tho. Maybe if I'm in the area a little jam would be in order?

That sounds like a plan Tyler. I live in Kenosha Wisconsin. I'm only like 20 min. from Gurnee. You should email me next time you get into town. My buddy is a guitar player, so we could play some street harp in Kenosha. Maybe even set up inside Gurnee Mills. I'm sure we could make that happen. (maybe even use their stage, get a big crowd going)

at would be sweet. Funny how small the world is. I grew up in Bristol. And went to central HS up to my sophmore year. LOL so yea a street jam would be fun I'm not sure that they would let us play at the mall tho. I think you would have to contact someone with mall security and if they can't help I'm sure that they could point you in the right direction

Sounds like a plan then, just email me when you get into town and want to jam. It's relatively colder than Florida, but you know that anyway so just dress warm. lol
what kind of skate tricks did you used to do? I do mostly freestyle. (rodney mullen tricks). You can check out some of em at

I haven't skated in over 28 years, but I've been playing harp for over 20, and might make it up there if you guys are cool with it.

Your welcome to come if you want. I was thinking about starting a little barbecue or pig roast, for us harpers in northern illinois area. We could do it in the spring for a rockin good time. I think we could get a bunch of musicians together to have a nice outdoor jam party.
what kind of tricks did you do? I'm guessing mostly oldskool and flatland? ---Be Positive---

How old are you guys? I used to do half pipes and freestyle, but the freestyle today is light years beyond what I did. Mostly 360's, nose wheelies, and I used to try kick flips.

You have to love the oldskool. I do Rodney mullen type freestyle. Before Powell. I just landed a spinning truckstand from a toeside rail (Primo). I'll post a vid. I love that stuff. oldskool and freestyle is the way to go. There's just not enough people willing to dedicate their skating to the old stuff. Mostly flip tricks and grinds now. There's many skaters who tell younger skaters not to ever do freestyle (Eric Koston, Tony Hawk). But it's usually the heavy freestyle tricks that i see winning ametuer competitions. People just don't see freestyle all over the place now, so it looks phenomenal to them. ---Be Positive---

Tony Hawk came along after I stopped skating. I started just before urethane wheels came out: my first board had steel wheels.
