I have set my self a challange to learn how to play the sax parts of baker street on the harmonica, I think I have found the sheet music for it below. I can't really read music but I think I can read enough to be able to create my own tab.

I know that the position that a song is played in makes a big difference to the sound and the feel of a song,
does anyone have any ideas on what position would suit the song the best?

Well .. from my quick look at the music the "Key Signiture" indicates it could be in the key of "B" ... BUT ... there are a few other keys that could use the same key signiture (e.g. G#minor).
So there is one starting point for picking a harmonica.

Nice song. One thing to keep in mind is that the sheet music that you have is probably for a Bb or Eb instrument so you will need to transpose to play it in concert pitch.

You may want to try getting a MIDI file of the song (there are several in the Web) and using Harping MIDI to get the tab. This way you will be able to see how it lays out using different positions and even harp tunings. Great piece of software: http://www.harpingmidi.com/

Hey Gus,I just checked out the web site you linked to, Very Interesting (as they used to say on Rowan & Martins Laugh In),I was thinking of getting the Amazing Slow Downer but perhaps this bit of kit would be a better investment,What does anyone think?

Geordie,

I have used the Harping program--the only problem I had with it is that it might be hard to find decent midi files to run in it.

I couldn't find a way to convert my favorite MP3's and such into midi--and the midi's I found were like really dull versions.

I am considering the Slow Downer--or maybe Riffster, which I like for the same thing--and it costs half as much. Since I became a harper, I have to budget for all this stuff--and sometimes the need for a harp outweighs the need for software. . .
