I'm not big on musical theory: in fact I'm pretty weak. But I was wondering something. We all know (or at least I think) that bending the low notes on a low harp (like a G) or the higher notes on a high harp are harder. But does the key of the harp have anything to do with it, or is it just the note. In other words, does a middle C bend easier on a C harp than a D harp (and I'm so musically challenged I don't know if the D scale has a middle C note, but you get what I mean.)?

People always ask me how/why my acoustic tone is so clear.

There are different resonance points for each note. Maybe 20yrs ago or so I used to spend hours per day playing each note on each harmonica. I made sure the pitch was correct. Practice whistling, humming, singing or vocalizing each note in the correct pitch. After a few sessions you'll discover that your tone and resonance is much improved.

You all would do well to study Koomei a style of Tibetan throat singing. You'll learn how to activate the different resonance points in your throat.

I believe that playing from the throat is very limiting and restricts the overall quality of tone. Use the throat as a vibration chamber and your mouth as a resonance chamber. Think of your throat as a trombone slide.

The other thing that really helps with bending and such is having a good harp that is properly set up.
