I have a few amps that I plug my guitars into. Can these be used for harp? I am not a pro and play mostly in the basement to torment the doxies. I have seen a few hand held mics on ebay and thought it would be fun to crank it up a bit every now and then.

They sure can be used! Just remember that each amp will have it's own sound to it. Typically Smaller tube amps are easier to overdrive giving you that nice dirty sound. The bigger the amp the cleaner the sound. You want you and your harp with little inbetween your amp ... your sound not something fabricated with lots of effects. (though that can be fun for a while!)
