Hi guys I'm gonna ask a very nooby question which I hope I can get answers about.
I'm looking into recording some demos of my playing and uploading on my Myspace and on Youtube as well. I don't intend to sell the recordings made with the backing tracks. Just want to use them as demos.
Reason being is because I'm looking for jobs and opportunities here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for playing harp. Gigs, recording, sessioning, etc etc... And most of the people I approach always ask me if I have something on Myspace... which I don't.
I could record just myself alone but I really want to show off my electric tone which sounds the best with a band. FYI, I will be adding at least one purely acoustic demo as well.
I don't want to depend on my band to record something at this point in time and thought that using a backing track would be less hassle.
I recently purchased the "Play Along Sessions, Vol. 1" and absolutely love the tracks. Though I suspect legally speaking I can't use it even for demo'ing... or am I wrong about this?
Could someone clarify to me if I can actually use THOSE tracks mentioned above or am I restricted to only tracks that I own some kind of right over or royalty free ones... How does this work anyways?
What can or can't I use on Myspace and Youtube IF I am not selling it and just using it for demonstration purposes only??
Sorry for the nooby questions and thanks for your time!

Hi Zhin, I can't say anything about the tracks you have, because I don't know what is permitted and what not with them, but I CAN point you to http://harmonicajam.com/. This place has many accomplished players and a large selection of bt's. The legal rights are mentioned with each track, and most of the people who made these tracks, will let you use them, if you give them credit and in some cases, you need to get permission from the owner, which is not that hard... Lots of great stuff there.....
Hope this helps DutchBones

Ah I'm actually already a member of that site. I checked it out and found all the info I needed on their FAQ. Pretty useful to know!
Thanks!
