Figured we might as well get an idea on how many people are planning on going. I'm gonna drive down from Chicago if all goes good. Never been to tennesee, so it'll be some fun stuff.

February 5th and 6th.
164 Union ave. at the Benchmark Hotel in downtown Memphis TN. A couple blocks from Beale st.

I am going. It's easy since I live here in Memphis.
I am also in the IBC's Youth Showcase so everyone thats going will be able to see me play.

Also, Jason Ricci will be hosting the Band Finals that Saturday at the Orpheum Theater, so youall may want to stay in town an extra day.

Nice. Can't wait to see your stuff. What are you planning for the performance?.... is that the Orpheum that gave you that 1st Place prize?

I would love to get there. jimi Lee is one of my instructors. It would be great to Support him. I would probably drive from Ohio. I was in Memphis 30 years ago, partying on Beale, Don't remember to much except for the paint can drinks served at Silky's.

Miles:

Thanks for checking in, and also thanks to Brandon. As of this moment, I've only had a handful of people saying they were definitely coming on down.

My hotel is indeed the Benchmark, and I'll certainly have some sort of open house on at least one of those days. I'll need to wait until a couple of weeks before the event--i.e., middle of January, a month or so from now--to give firm info, since I want to schedule things in such a way that they don't conflict with Brandon's performances. But think of it as an open house, with beer. (Yes, I will certainly provide some beer and chips.) What form things take beyond that remains to be seen. I like the idea of cheering Jimi Lee on; also the idea, perhaps, of finding a way of jamming on Beale Street. I'm open to suggestions. My hotel room is paid for, in any case.

I'll post info both in a new thread, in mid-January, and in the "news and updates" page.

I know I haven't posted many times, but I was born in Memphis and try to get back there to see family every chance I get. Have had some great times on Beale St.

My dad actually recorded on Sun Records, which is right on Union Ave. He was a Rockabilly singer and songwriter. (still is actually. He still plays in Europe and Vegas a few times a year. Not bad for 78!) A few of his performances are on Youtube as well. Jack Earls is his name. Not blues, but very cool just the same. He is a monster...still.

Anyway, if there is something planned on the board I'm pretty sure I can make it. I'm adicted to this website, and would like to go check out Memphis with some fellow harp fanatics.
