Are these any good? I've only been playing for a few months but I'd like to mess around a little with amplified harp. I was looking at picking up a Shure green bullet but I can get one of these for 1/2 the price. I'm hesitant though as I can't seem to find much info on them.

It's yet another version of the Nady/Bushman torpedo mic.
Nice to see, at least, someone finally admitting what the vents are for on these (cardioid pattern feedback rejection) and the fact that they become useless when you cover them by cupping the mic. They are actually a necessity when you stick, what is essentially a standard vocal mic element, into a bullet shell.
The last paragraph cracks me up... "A true dual impedance mic" and then adding that to make it high-z you need a transformer! by that reckoning every mic in the world is dual impedance. Quality!

So that's a thumbs down review I take it? Thanks, I'll save the money for a shure down the road.

Ya, couldn't find any reviews. Seems like a gamble too me, I'd rather spend a little more for the sure thing.

There are reviews out there, but Google Bushman Torpedo mic - not Apex 127. That is the original name of this rebranded microphone.
IMHO though, save your money and get a better microphone. It is a vocal dynamic mic in a bullet shell. If you want a clean sounding vocal dynamic then buy a Shure SM57 or similar. If you want a bullet mic then buy vintage Shure 520 or Astatic JT-30 etc... from ebay.
If you can't afford vintage then look at the Superlux D112 which is a low cost, Shure Green Bullet clone and from the clips I've heard on Youtube isn't at all bad for the money

You specifically mentioned a "vintage" shure 520, are the new ones no good?

The 520DX is OK, but an original American made 520 or Mexican made 520D would have the edge tone-wise, although the difference might not be worth the cost differnece to you.
The current Green bullet is nicer than the current Hohner Blues Blaster. Tone-wise, I think the Superlux and the 520DX are quite similar.

I have a Superlux and am very happy with it. I like my Green Bullet. I like its sound, but with no volume control, its harder to control feedback-its a pretty hot mic. I always use the Superlux.

Go on ebay and type in harp mic. Look for anything with an old shure element in it and you wont go wrong. There are loads on ebay and a few have sound clips and videos me the mics being played
