Hi guys,
have a listen and tell me what you think.

http://www.zen121286.zen.co.uk/hbj-player/

It's the 3rd song down.."long distance call"

Was playing with a great slide guitar player called Nick Giles..check out his stuff on myspace/ngiles. He's also a great harp player.

Geordie/Oldwailer...this is still the little rig but properly mic'ed up this time.

Regards
Oisin

Hey Oisin, once again you impress me with your bluesy playing ,I think that would best be described as SMOOTH, You started out quite tentativly then found the sweet spot and got stuck in, Nice job mate, And yes the rig sounded much better this time, Could you remind me and Wailer what you're using coz i can't be arsed to check back through the threads!

Hey,

I enjoyed that. You have nice vibrato. You came in kind of slowly but soon got going. I liked the slide guitar player too.

Hi Oisin--the rig sounds great--I'm still looking around to find something similar. A very smooth, laid back performance.

The best part of it is about half way through when you hit the long warble--it might have been good if you had hit the volume a little more for that solo--but you were very tasteful and backgrounding nicely for most of the cut. . .

Guys...thanks for this constructive criticism, it's just the kind of feedback I need.
It is always a bit of hard to play along with a song and guitarist you don't know at a jam but this is good advice you have given and i'll take it on board.

Geordie this is a little hacker valve amp used in the 60's to turn your turntable into a stereo player. You see them on ebay from time to time. I saw one last week which sold for £26...not a bad price for a valve amp.I used my green bullet (DX) as well.

Geordie, my father-in-law is from South Shields and we are planning to take a trip up there next year. Can you recommend any good spots to hear a bit of blues or maybe I could try and meet up with you?
I let you know nearer the time. Maybe get a pint in that pub that's embedded in a cliff (I think is was called something like the Marsden grotto) Maddest site for a pub I've ever seen!!

All the best

Nice one Geordie I'll look forward to that. My missus
lost touch with her Dad when she was about 5 and we only met him again 35 years later, last year. She grew up in Essex so I doubt whether she'll know what a sandman is but her Dad will. I hope it's rude as Sugar free Mackum sounds positively painful.
I did get to drink a few pints of "Newky" (is that how it's spelt?) up there and that was very nice.

Hey Oisin, Here's a top tip,If you are going to come to the north east to drink,Never, I repeat Never, Refer to the legendary Newcastle Brown Ale as Newcky brown,Only soft southern bastards say that!,To avoid comfrontation and the high likelyhood of personal injury always ask,In your deepest hardest voice for a BOTTLE OF DOG,That way you won't get thrown through a window,Why else do you think we have pubs built half way up sheer cliffs!?

A Sand Dancer is someone who hails from South Shields,Which is as any Geordie will tell you,The wrong side of the Watta,Which means the south side of the river Tyne which is well known to be the mightest river of all!,Sand Dancers are all Thieves and Vagabonds and will gladly sell one of there many children for a bottle of the world famous Newcastle Brown Ale AKA DOG,There is only one life form lower than a Sand Dancer and that is a Mackum,Which is someone who hails from Sunderland,Also known as the arsehole of the north.Anyone from Geordieland,AKA North of the Watta,Is expected to insult a Mackum at any oppertunity but especially in any social gathering associated with Football,Sand Dancers,Although from South of the Watta,Can be tollerated. So endeth the lesson!

Geordie...I'll be sure to tell him this explaination when I see him. He, no doubt, will have a few choice pet names for Newcastle folk too.
One thing I did notice when we went up there was that no-one, and I mean no-one,even the women, wore a coat on a night out. The missus, father-in law and myself went out for a drink in the city centre in November and it was fecking freezing and I couldn't believe that everyone was walking round in tee-shirts.
We were nearly blinded by stiff nipples...what's going on there then?
