We've all seen the weirdest ways of tabbing down songs for the harp. All of us have their own favorite way. This thread is to find one that fits us all, that we can use for the harpfriends channel.

I personally like:
draw/blow: -2 +2
bend: -2' -2''
overblow/-draw: +6* / -7*

One thing that I would very much like to incorporate (and I've never seen before) is a sign for the blue note like -3^ or something.

Tell me what you think the best tabbing system is.

Cheers

I use a similar notation, but reserve the ' and " for blow bends (ie. +8' and +10"), and use a little b for draw bends (ie. -1b and -2bb). Overblows (which I can't do anyway) get a # symbol (ie. +6#). Interesting idea about mariking blue notes, I usually just use -3b for the blue third in second pos. I like to include a line of periods above the tab line to indicate the beat, and make sure the tab line is spaced properly below it. Also, I've never figured out a satisfactory way to indicate warbles, vibratto, wah wah, etc. with a simpletext tab. That's why for more complicated stuff (like blues) I do it by hand...

If I do the transcribe myself I use colours for the draw (red) & for the blow (black). A full bend on draw 3 would be in red and be : 3bb and a half bend 3b. Am not into overblows or overbends so don't know how I would transcribe. I find colours + minimal symbols is easiest to follow. That said I rarely use tabs unless I have a problem getting the melody into my head.

Have you ever downloaded some of his tabs? Basically down arrow for draw ( with hole number writted above ), up arrow for blow, down arrow with a kink for bend, bigger kink for bigger bend.) And dude can you lighten your vids up a bit, its hard on the eyes :-)

No, I didn't download any of his tabs.
The problem with this method is that you can't really type it on the computer.

Yeah, I know my vids are pretty dark. If I want them to be lighter I have to shine the light directly onto my face (which is pretty uncomfortable). I'll try to find a way for next time though... :)

I prefer sheet music, although I can get confused if it isn't for a C harp, the one I learned on.
