I purchased the Harmonica Academy courses before I found the wealth of Adam's stuff (free and purchased) and Jon Gindick's book.. I must say, it is a well structured course - it is pretty good. LOTS of really fast single note playing. I use Adam's stuff and Jon Gindick's rockin blues book for blues practice. I must say, I can do fairly well with blues and play along decently. I nail a lot of the stuff on the tracks Adam and Jon provide (although they would lose most all of us with ease..)But I go back to those darn folks music and Irish folks song practice lessons and MAN it is TOUGH. Fast, precise single notes, no room for error. I like blues, listen to it, enjoy playing along with it, and an error can turn into an improv and recovery is transparent to most (Except maybe my wife who thinks everything I play is way off). Do not intend to play a lot of folk, do not listen to it much other than to marvel at the precise speed and accuracy. Am I being unfair to myself by thinking I need to be proficient at both in order to be a complete player for blues tunes?

Dan: I may just be your opposite. I learned by playing Folk/Bluegrass/Country. I'm now trying to learn Blues and finding it very difficult.Almost like starting over. My first instructor is a melodic/diatonic Master. Frank Bard is 2 time Buckeye State Champ and 2 time European Champ. He taught me single notes, melody , timing and some of it is very fast, especially bluegrass. Now learning Blues, back to basics. I'm now getting good a bending and working hard on tone. Learning not to play flat!!! Working on tongue blocking and octaves. All is great, but I have a hard time playing along with 12 bar. I can do basics but want much more. Just can't seem to improvise. I heard once to master anything it takes about 10,000 hours of practice. So I just keep on keepin on. Good luck And I Thank You K.C.
