Has anyone else experienced "Dry-Mouth" or "Cotton-Mouth" when playing and performing? I'm sure I might be just plan nervous or something when on stage, but if I don't have water or something on stage with me, I wouldn't get through a full set. Does anyone have any tricks or tips for this? Am I the only one with this problem?

don't smoke herb before the set... LOL. Just kidding. I would just keep a water bottle handy. Or try chewing gum, although that might get a little messy and gum up your harps ( no pun intended ). ---------- *you can only keep what you have by giving it away*

I agree with water and chewing gum...just remember to take the gum out before you start playing. Smoke the herb well before you start playing and you'll be fine.

I go through almost 3 bottles of water in 1.5-2 hours practice time. I cant imagine how thirsty Id be on stage while playing much harder for an audience. You gotta figure, you're using saliva when playing harmonica no matter how you do it. At some point it makes sense that your body will want that replenished. Plus, water is good for you so thats a plus :) . ---------- ~Ryan PA Ryan's Tube

When I saw Rick Estrin play, I noticed that he was constantly rinsing his mouth with water when not playing--even while the rest of the band was playing.
If it's good enough for a harp god like Estrin, it'll just have to work for me. I hate it when I get half way through a good woodshed on something and run out of spit--the harp just won't move around enough to get the notes I want. . .

Scrapboss...my previous band had a Bud endorsment. i don't know if the money i saved on beer was worth the money i lost on gummed up harps. i still drink plenty of beer when im on stage, but wash it down with a squirt of H2O before harp solos (Mainly a bass player)

I also have a problem with cotton mouth when i Enjoy the Herb, No i mean, Play the Harp, But i cure it with cold water with a touch of lime, The sourness stimulates the saliva production. ---------- http://www.youtube.com/arbite83
