CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHICH OF ADAMS VIDEO'S ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE? MY 4 DRAW HAS FALLEN WAY OFF. I REMEMBER SOMETHING ABOUT FILING THE REED TO SHARPEN THE NOTE.

it's probably broken. Time to replace the reed or get a new harp.

Check out youtube videos GUSSOW.016 & GUSSOW.017. He goes over filing the free end of the 1 draw to raise the pitch in video 16, I believe. I know nother other then what I read and heard but it seems you would just take a thin layer off the free end.

Like Buddha say's, it's probably fatigued. If it happened suddenly then that's almost certainly the problem. The four draw has nearly always been the one to go on my harps. If you can look at it under magnification and work it up and down, you may see where the fracture is. Funnily enough the fracture isn't normally at the root of the reed near the rivet but half way along. ---------- When I'm not blowing, I'm drawing.

that has been the fate of many of my harps over the years. i tried for a while to retune the reed and it never would come back. once it has fatigue cracks it's time to get a new harp. or if you are into it all, replace and retune a new 4 draw reed.
