Hello All,

I'm new to the forum and harmonica (playing 1-week) for that matter, but I've been fortunate to discover Adams lessons on YouTube...Amazing stuff, I could have never figured this out myself! These are the techniques that will help me learn the instrument and define my own playing style in a reasonable amount of time. I love the sound of an amplified harp...In the right hands!

Anyway, I purchased a Lee Oskar C Diatonic to begin my journey...Torn between this and the Special 20. Next, I found a few online lessons and started working on my single notes and the major scale. Then, I discovered Adam's YT lessons, and I plan to follow his series of videos.

That said, I'm no stranger to music having played guitar for almost 20-years, which will hopefully help with the learning curve. I'm confident the instructional videos will do wonders, and I'm looking forward to learning from forum as well. At some point, I may consider taking lessons, so I can get some feedback from a qualified instructor/player. I'm in the St. Louis area...What is the best resource for finding instructors in a given city?

Regarding my harmonica...I can isolate and play all but one of the single notes...The 1 draw will not sound unless I contort the harp a certain way and use the perfect amount of force...Seems odd since all other notes play with very little effort, even 1 blow. Is this particular draw note that difficult to play for beginners, or could there be an issue with the instrument?

I appreciate your patience...I'll probably ask a lot of basic questions and regarding material that has been covered ad nauseam...Sorry!

Thanks in advance for your comments...I look forward to talking with you!

Welcome Chevus. Don't forget there is a search function in this forum where you'll find a wealth of information which may address some of your concerns. There's loads of stuff here to whet your appetite.

There are also some very knowledgable and accomplished players who are only too pleased to chip in with advice and helpful tips from time to time. We are very fortunate to be in such good company with some of the best harp players around. Let's hope some of their talent and enthusiasm for the harp rubs off on us.

When I'm not blowing, I'm drawing.

Welcome to the forum Chevus. I've only been playing a little over a year. It is good to hear that folks are picking up this instrument to give a serious try at developing skill. Have fun!
