Just in case I'm not the only dummy in the NW who didn't know--James Cotton is playing in Bothell on the 25th at 7 pm at the Northshore Performing Arts Center.

I'm really looking forward to seeing a world class star play live. I hope he does "Blues for the Hook--" That one knocks me out!

You'll love Cotton live...his band is much more guitar driven but he still has power and presence.
He's a great guy , shake the hand that shook the hands of all the greats past and present

Cotton is playing out here in Central Massachusetts at the Bull Run in Shirley, MA sometime in April. I've already told the wife to plan for a night out. This will be the first "Legend" that I'll get to see live!

Thats awesome, hope you guys are able to catch and enjoy his show.

I still dont have a CD for James Cotton. I hear that 100% Cotton is the one for him but I cant find it much less then $18. What would his next best CD to buy be?

Ryan, I like his work with Muddy Waters. I LOVE his playing on the album "Hard Again". If you don't have it you should pick it up...a must listen.

Hollistonharper...I'm going to the Bull Run show for sure, it's about 10 minutes from my house. Let me know if you're going, we can have a beer and be amazed together!

W/out getting too personal, you wouldn't happen to be the same gentleman from Holliston who teaches blues classes in the central massachusetts area, would you?

Ryan,I'd second anything with Muddy Waters. All I have is his best of the vanguard years, which I think is his early stuff. Also have Harp Attack! with Billy Branch, Carey Bell and Jr Wells--recommended by Gussow as a great jam track.

Jaymc, will definitely let you know if I go to bull run, it's a bit of a hike for me.

And no, I'm not that guy. But talk about coincidences, I recently heard of the guy you're talking about--his name is Kent Kissinger. I was thinking about calling him to see if he teaches harp in addition to the music appreciation class I think you're talking about. Did you take the class or do you know anything about him?

HH:
The coincidence runs deeper. I was sitting at my desk reading an overview of a class Kent is teaching at Assabet Valley that is a blues history/basic blues harmonica class. It looks like a very remedial harp course so I was googling Kent to see if he taught anything for the 'advanced beginner', that's how I found out he was from Hollison. Moments later I saw your post and thought I'd ask...

That's how I saw him too. Actually first saw the course last fall and then just now in their latest flyer. He barely has a google presence. Tell you what, this guy lives about a mile from me. I'll call him and let you know what I find out. Have you joined harmonicaspace.com? I'm trying to use that as a resource for local instruction too.

Yes, I joined harmonicaspace. I just set up a page and haven't done anything else, other than look at the forum pages.
If you learn anything else about Mr. Kissinger please let me know.
