Does anyone here have the "Blues Harmonica Collection" tab book? It has 40 standard blues songs tabbed out.
I'm thinking about getting it but wanted to know first if it is teaching the harp "parts'of these songs or is it teaching strictly the melody of the song.
The book has a blue cover and sells for $14.95.

Thanks for any info on this.

See below from Dec 5th posting by Jeff on a thread I read on the forum yesterday. The reviews on Amazon seem pretty good so I added the book to my wish list as it sounds like it has whole songs in it with solid tabs for the harp parts.

Purchase this book and follow the simple Sonny Boy Williamson, Jimmy Reed and Howlin' Wolf songs:
http://www.amazon.com/Blues-Harmonica-Collection-Leonard-Corp/dp/0793516005/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1228503839&sr=1-1

Once you see the tab in front of you, you realize that even the riffs that sound complicated really aren't that bad. Buying the Amazing Slow Downer would help a lot also.

I always thought Sonny Boy's material was great for beginners because his stuff relies heavily on timing more so than complex riffs. His playing is very simple and straightforward. This $7 book has virtually all of Little Walter and Sonny Boy's classics (40+) - it's worth its weight in gold.

I have this book. It has the sheet music and harmonica tab over the whole song. I bought it years ago, long before I could make use of it. I've recently dug it out again and it looks pretty good to me now. You might be thrown off if you are not a music reader (which I am not), and will have to rely on hearing the recordings to get the timing down, etc.

I can't read music, so was interested in the songs being tabbed out.
I guess I'm most interested to know if it is tabbed for 2nd position with riffs tabbed and the harp backing the vocals with breaks or if it's a beginning to end melody tab where your basicly playing over the vocals. Which I know is a no-no.

if you have any cd from sonnyboy 2 and little walter and jimmy reed you can listen to songs and the tab at the same time.. like if sonnyboy sing you sing if sonnyboy is playing the harp you play it.. or you can just do the fills and let him sing.or you can sing and let him do the fill..they tell you the postion what harp to use ... anyway it is a fun book if you are into those players.i got one for christmas from amazon for like 9 bucks

The harp tabs in this book represent the harmonica parts exactly as played on the original recordings.
