Hey all, I was watching Talkshow with Spike Feresten last night, and he had G Love (solo, no special sauce) on as the musical guest. He started playing a song on his guitar with a bottleneck slide and it sounded good enough to get me to pay attention. I then noticed that he had a harp in a rack around his neck and thought to myself "Oh no, here we go again: another guy trying to "blues up" has song with badly played harmonica..." To my surprise and delight, however, when he got to the first breakdown in the song and started to blow, he was fantastic! Unile most rack players I hear these days, he was playing in second position, using the blues scale with bends, and using great technique alternating single notes and chords... It sounded really great! I hadn't listned to G Love for maybe 8 or 9 years, and didn't realize he'd started down a more blues-oriented path... Anyways, i just wanted to post here to give those of you who, like me, were not in the know, a heads about about his new direction...
Cheers,
Isaac
