Hi Folks, just thought I'd try an experiment to see if we can post sound files to this forum. Turn your speakers on and click this trial sound file and let me know what you get. It works OK for me. I'm on a PC running vista with standard sound set-up. Depending what sort of response I get from you and if Adam allows us to use it, I'll post full details on how you can create a sound file with your computer and post it here for us all to hear. The only thing is, you may need to have your own webspace with your ISP where you upload your files.

I'll see what the response is before going into too much detail. It would be good to share sound files because we can't all make YouTube videos.

I listened to this sound file like at 4 pm when you originally posted it without explanation. I've been wondering what the hell it was. Glad to know you're not crazy haha.

Very cool idea, and it works fine for me. I'm running a linux distro (i383, both KDE and GNOME)

Couldn't get it to work on Firefox but worked well on Internet Explorer.

Tookatooka was that Bernard Bresslaw by any chance.

No. It wasn't B.B. I used to go round the markets in London and, just for my own enjoyment, recorded some of the Market Traders cockney sales patter. This was a bloke from Pettycoat Lane Market. I feel that all the old markets are losing their identities and the old Dickensian characters are fading into history.

Excellent, I listened to it a few times and thought the first part was Bresslaw, Moving away from harp for a second I'm sure I read somewhere that the National Archives are looking for exactly that type of recording precisely because of what you say.

Phil,
I have the same OS system as you.
Try looking down at the bottom left of your blank screen. There should be an arrow to click on which represents the play button.
It worked fine for me.

rustywater: It works fine with Firefox, that's what I'm using. You just have to download the right plugin.
