Well, me and guitar playing buddy of mine won our high school talent show last Thursday. It was especially nice because I've got three friends that are in a band (that I'm not an active member of but do occasionally sit in with) that practices like three or four times a week and we beat them. We only practiced/jammed for like ten minutes the day of the show. haha. We definitely kicked some tail with our awesome and (believe it or not) original arrangement of the Robert Johnson classic Me and the Devil Blues. We threw in an awesome breakdown in the middle. It was a good night, and the standing ovation certainly helped. :)

Hey Warbleman...well done on kicking some butt at the talent show. A standing ovation must be a great feeling. Can we hear some of you guys playing? How about posting something on youtube for us?

Good job!
It's always wonderful to hear about MBH peers going out there and spreading the blues. :)
I second Oisin's request. Would love a video or audio recording if you have one.

i watch public access in my town, i got a son who is in plays and such. i watch the high school talent shows to see if there are any musicians in the mix. i am always a bit shocked to see what these bands produce.
they all are heavy metal shredding with screaming vocals that are indecipherable. i dont see why they practice as it seems nobody is really playing the same song. may be my age, but i doubt it.
i am not saying anything about your performance, warbleman. congratulations on your victory. but it seems that anything different and is musical and is done well would walk with an award! and your change of pace blues number, duet with a harp, fits that description, i think.
please get a video of your act, whether it is for the show or a re-do in the basement. i would like to see it. and it seems to me you have done what many of us strive for...find a guitarist to jam with!! way to go!!

I've done the whole duo thing briefly. I have nothing but respect for people who play that style. It's so easy to figuratively 'hide' behind all the other players in a band. With just a guitarist and myself I felt so exposed; like playing on the stage naked (wouldn't be a pretty sight!). After playing in bands since I was a teenager, I thought I'd got over the nerves, but I'd never experienced stage fright like it.
Congratulations Warbleman!
