I finally found a cheap mic at a 2nd hands store in the town near where I live. It was "hidden" in a box full of junk cables and connectors, scratched and scarred (like myself) in a box stacked together with other boxes loaded with all kinds of junk.
The shop clerk wouldn't tell me if there was a chance this mic was still "alive" because it came from the "Junk Corner" and anything from there was "Buy at your Own Risk".... you know... stuff that people buy who like to fix things...
So I actually left the store once (without the mic) because even at a low price (about US $10) I can't afford to just throw money away....
However... a small voice in the back of my head.. okay, okay.. a big voice was shouting in my head... "Go For It!! Go For It!! .. If you Don't Buy This Mic You Will Be Asking Yourself For The Rest Of Your Miserable Life If It Was THE Mic For You!!"
So I went back to the shop with my head hanging down, and I asked the guy if I could try it out with one of the many amps they had lying around.
But they refused.."Take it or leave it" was his advice.. an attempt to get the price lowered was also shot down.... so I crumbled and in a weak moment I told the guy I would take it, no questions asked...
On the way home I prepared myself for the worst... no sound when plugged in....
When I got home I pulled out my Micro Cube and connected the mic.... I fumbled my A harp out of my pocket and took a deep deeeep breath.... dammmn.... no sound from the amp.... and than it struck me.. you've got to use the on/off switch on the mic too....
And there it was..... a nice...niiiice deep sound..... from my 1973 Pioneer DM-3A.....
I swapped the mic for my old karaoke mic and then back again to the Pioneer, and I was right... it sounds different, better, warmer.... I finally got myself good mic...
I tried to find some info about this mic on the Internet, but I can't find any (except for some database list which dates this mic 1973-1975.
If anybody knows something about this mic I'll be pleased to know about it....

Very cool, Dutch--I keep going to garage sales every week-end--I look through the bins at thrift stores--someday I'm going to find a bushel of Pre-war Marine band harps and a vintage mic for five bucks--just haven't done it yet.
Congrats on a nice find!

I don't know what you yanks call it but we have always been skip searchin', that is looking through the waste coming out of a house that is thrown in a bin.
Nothing to do with Dutchbones fortunate find (well done)
keep searchin' there could be paydirt!!!

I had a Turner BX bullet mic given to me from a guy at work! Not a yard sale or junk bin find, but what a bonus freebie!
One day I'm going to see if the element works or not, right now I've got a couple other harp mics, so it just sits there looking pretty, in a distressed old sort of way. :)
