1971nimmo, Buddha answered your question perfectly, but I have a feeling you were looking for a little more detailed answer. Yes, customization is the process that makes the harp more "user friendly" if you will. Adjusting reed gaps to your particular playing style will allow you to bend easier. However as I'm sure others will log in and point out, you should make it a point to be able to bend on an un-modified harp as well. It just makes you appreciate one that has been set up all the more.
Adam made a video where he opens up the Harp and slightly opens the 2,3,4 draw reeds with a slip of paper. I can't remember the title, maybe Adam or someone who remembers will jump in with the answer.
Mostly bending just takes practice and the more you do it the better it gets.
Also if you have no frame of refference on how much you are bending download the bendometer for your computer and hook up a mic. It gives you a graphical representation on were you are at. I found out I could bend better than I thought.
