I was out listening to some live blues last week and found a harp player named David Lipkind playing harp in the Joe McMurrian Quartet. He played well, complimented the songs without stepping on anyone, and at times would play some fast runs and complex verses without reducing it to wankery. Very impressive harpist, for my money. Check him out around the web - he's got some music to hear at his website, and at myspace under his own name and with the Joe McMurrian Quartet.

Anyone else familiar with him? I did a forum search here to see if I missed previous posts about him and it came up blank. He's in Portland, Oregon, but if he shows up where you live, it's worth leaving the house to hear him.
